MFM Appointment...new PIP

So I went to see the specialist. We are at an increased risk of Downs (1 in 80 which translates to about 2% according to AFP test). The foci is not a big deal, but will have to monitor baby carefully during last trimester for IUGR due to the single umbilical artery. No other problems detected. He did say that, with SUA, I am more likely to deliver early and have an increased risk of stillbirth, but they will do frequent monitoring of baby to make sure LO is doing fine. Also, will probably have to have a c section as babies with SUA tend not to tolerate labor well, but again, we will see how LO is doing at that time.

All in all, pretty good news, to me. We were offered the Harmony test, but decided to decline since everything else looked fine and even if baby does have Downs, we can handle it and not much that knowing ahead would change. (My sister had it, so I have a pretty good idea what that would entail!)

ETA: @kld2014 I forgot to do a PIP! Your post reminded me! DD2 is picking her nose. I laughed for 5 mins when she did this!!

I go in tomorrow for my level 2 u/s. Baby is measuring small so I am afraid that we'll be diagnosed with IUGR as well!!! Hopefully baby is just overall small and this isn't due to any chromosonal/genetic issues, or blood flow issues to the baby.

I've been kind of a wreck waiting to find out more information so I am hoping for positive news.

Sounds like you are approaching this with a good attitude- I'm sorry you will have to do more monitoring and that the labor/C section may be more complicated/stressful than the average birth, wishing for the best for you and LO!
