XP: Short cervix at 15 weeks?

Hi I'm new to this board I am currently 15w with twins and this is my first pregnancy.  I had some early spotting (5/6w) but nothing since.

We went in for our 15 week u/s today and my cervix is at 3-3.3 currently.  She said this is short and wants to see us again in 2 weeks. She just keeps saying it's too soon to tell anything and didn't want me to worry.  I didn't know if anyone here had gone through it? I just kinda want to know what other doctors have said and other experiences?

Also, it was not funneling

Thanks for any help/experience you can offer - I would love to hear both good and bad.

Hi there, welcome and congratulations on your babes!  I'm currently on bed rest for PTL which has resulted in a shortened cervix.  I wouldn't panic yet.  I was told by my MFM that cervix lengths vary from woman to woman and your 3.3 could be someone else's 4.  You may stay 3.3 your entire pregnancy and have zero issues!  Was this your baseline measurement?  Or have you shortened from a higher number?  If this is your first cervical check, definitely don't panic, wait and see what the future brings.  No funneling is also great news!  Best of luck to you!

Thanks a ton!!! This is baseline - they haven't measured it before now.  So I will know more in 2 weeks

3.3 is pretty normal.  They typically don't 'worry' until you are below 2cm.  I had a short cervix at 19 weeks and I'm still hanging in there. Try not to get discouraged.  Congrats on your twins!

Hi - it's good they caught it early if it does start to shorten. I have had two pregnancies with short cervix's (.8) and had cerclages placed for both and put on p17 shots. I have gone full term with both. I was also on bedrest/modified bedrest for both. My suggestion to you is to be aware and know what your options are if you go back in and it did shorten. I would say 3 is good but I think it's monitored closely with twins. Best of luck!
