3rd b day gifts from friends

My little man turns 3 the end of the month and our friends are asking for ideas.

What are some smaller priced items that you'd suggest for or give as a b day gift. 

He LOVES cars trucks and trains but really how many can we have lol

I was thinking a board game or two, even if we hold onto it for a few months until hes ready, he's not really into crafts or coloring/drawing.

DS got a fishing game for his 3rd bday and 6 months later he still loves it;  also loves tools, playdoh, and painting

DS just had his 3rd birthday and some of the smaller priced items he received were a Melissa and Doug floor puzzle, roller skates, a dinosaur excavation kit, bubble stuff and a bunch of different wands, and things to catch bugs. My SIL made him an awesome superhero cape, mask and arm bands.

Some other things he has and really likes are a sit and spin, pop beads, a race track, glow sticks, bath toys, and blocks (he goes between the large Lego kind and just plain wooden ones). He also loves dressing up, reading and crafts.

We said "No gifts" this year on the invite. 

I would tell them his sizes.
