NBR- vertigo sucks

It hit me last night. This is probably the third or fourth time I've had it, but it's been over four years since I had it last. Anyone else suffer with it??

I took the day off work and I'm hanging out in bed today. DD is spending the day with my ILs. it's not nearly as bad as the last time I had it. But it still sucks!! Anyone go to the doctor or take anything specific for it? Normally I try to just stay still and in bed and sleep it off, but the last time it took almost 3 days...

I had it in my teens and took some medication for it - don't remember what I took though. I haven't had it years. I remember it sucked. Hope you feel better!

  • I don't have vertigo, but I have had problems with labyrinthitis, which causes me to feel constantly off balance and it sucks. A couple of years ago someone told me to try peppermint oil and to put a little on the outside corners of my eyes and a little on my nose. It really helped. My dad recently had vertigo problems for over a week, possibly even two weeks (it went away and then came back). He went to his doctor and they did something to his head, he said it felt kind of like going to a chiropractor. It was something about kind of dropping his head and then turning it to one side and repeating on the other. Hope you find something that helps.

  • My mom just had it and they did some sort of PT that is supposed to dislodge whatever had accumulated in the inner ear to cause it. She said it didn't help all that much, however. Hope you feel less seasick soon!

  • I had it while pregnant! One visit to the Chiro and some garlic oil ear drops fixed it in a day. I know it sounds really weird.

At home, you can try pulling on your ear lobes in a check mark motion. Down then up. There are little stones in your ears that get stuck or moved and this helps. When they are off, you are off balance.

  • I had it once too and it went away on its own. It sucked! However the doctor my sister works for always prescribes physical therapy. I can believe the chiro would also help.

  • I had it yesterday and actually got physically sick from it. There's a virus going around and fluid in the ears is a symptom. Feel better
  • I have a chiro appt in the morning - fingers crossed!!

  • Yes!! I think it was kind of wearing off, but I feel a million times better after going to the chiro. Thanks for asking :)
