How did you talk him into it? Please share your secrets!
More sex and no babies.
This is my hope when the time comes. I used to be hesitant, but I'm just tired of condoms, and as much as I love DS, we will be DONE once we have a second. Three just isn't for us, no way, no how.
-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.
DH had to shave the area and that was the only prep. When we got there, DH had to sign a consent thing that sent him into a panic when it said there was a rare complication of impotence. Doctor was really good about calming him down. So the doc gave him versed directly into his vein. DH looked at me like I was a beauty queen the first half and slept the 2nd half.
The lidocaine hurts! At the very beginning, where they clamp the area he looked like he was in major pain, but he doesnt remember. Doc made a single cut up high by the base of his penis. I got to hold DH's hand and was in worse shape watching then he was getting it done.
So DH couldnt sleep for 4hrs afterwards. He got compression shorts and we rotated frozen peas. He kept them on the whole time and he didnt have hardly any swelling or bruising. He went back to work at 4 days out which wasnt good. He came home swollen 2x his size. He should have taken a week.
We were at Walmart and the doc passed us. Me and doc just nodded and smiled, and DH asked me who that was. So if Dh can forget what another man that held his penis looks like, he was pretty out of it
ETA- Sex has been totally normal and Dh had morning wood the whole time he recovered which didnt make any sense to me, considering the ice. He also has to do 20 or so ejaculations and send in a cup to make sure they arent floatin' around still

Well, presumably he wasn't getting off while he was recovering. So hormonally his body still wanted it.

I don't think I would be able to sit there and hold his hand.
That's some dedication right there.

MH got one in January. He went alone, no anesthesia (except numbing shots), drove home. Got it done on Friday, went back on a Tuesday. He used the ice pack thing they gave him 24/7 for the whole weekend, and sat with his legs elevated to avoid swelling. He ALMOST had to have it done again. But the dr said it was an anomaly and doesn't happen to most people.
Wanna hear a funny story? My mil always warned me my hubby's family had strong swimmers and to be proactive in birth control. only one of her 5 kids were planned, the others were birth control or condom babies. i was on the pill 7 years, got off and 3 weeks later got pregnant. With ds I got preggo on the pill. So my bil got his snip April 30, July 29 sil found out she was pregnant and was still on the pill. He got his count and sure enough they were still present.Dh said were never having sex again lol. Sooo ever since my 6 week pp visit we've been using the pill and condoms. So ready to just use nothing!!!! But will wait till a full clear!

Since I asked if I could be up there, I kind of got stuck in a corner by the MA. I was also standing. So about an hour into this thing, when they were cauterizing the second little sperm highway I wasnt feeling so hot. That sight/sound/smell combo is not a pretty one. Im still glad I watched though.
MH had one in March. He did better than I expected, actually. No way in hell would he let me watch though! His was the no needle, no scalpel version so recovery went well. He was on board with it but my doctor wanted him to have it vs me have a tubal due to my scar tissue. MH is terrified of me getting pregnant again due to the health risks involved so the V was a no brainer for him. I'm glad it's over and we don't have to think about it anymore.
DH had crappy recoveries both times. And an all clear after 6 months and 1 year means shite. Still get them done annually. He'd still get another one if need be. Apparently no form of birth control prevents pregnancy in our family.
So there's 2 tubes right, one for each kidney. When they went in, they found the first one in 5 minutes, snip. Done. They looked for FIFTEEN minutes for the other side and couldn't find it. Finally gave up. Told DH this means he "needs an u/s because he might only have one kidney." Had to wait 2 weeks for u/s!! (Keep in mind DH played college football and in all his scans had never been told he was missing anything.) got the u/s= 2 kidneys yea! Had 3 tests done to check and they all came back at zero count. So survey says he only ever had one tube.
If they had to do it again they said they'd comp it since they'd have missed it in the first place. Luckily it wasn't necessary.
Well, so far I've gotten pregnant once on the pill and once with condoms. This is number 3 for us and only our middle one was planned. DH is planning a vasectomy next summer. I didn't have to talk him into it. He's been saying he's getting one since after DD was born (she was a very difficult baby for him).

Kidneys??
Jeebus.
DH wants to get a vasectomy but I'm on the fence. Because of medical issues I'm not a "good candidate" for hormonal BC, but my OB said charting and condom were just as effective.
Course that means we'll be expecting number three just when I think life is returning to normal.
DH had one and the recovery was OK. He was able to move around and stuff after day 2.
The vasectomy reversal, on the other hand, was WAAAAAAAY more difficult than they said it would be. His urologist was all "it's the same recovery as the vasectomy." Umm no it's not. If you do it, make sure you are DONE. We did it when we were convinced we'd adopt another baby if we wanted one, but we didn't do enough pre-surgery research into adoption to see how impossible adoption would be for us.
If there's a remote chance you may change your mind, speak up!!!
