Bump (or lack thereof)

So yesterday DH's grandmother tells me she doesn't believe me that I'm pregnant since she still can't see it.  She's kidding of course, but it still makes me laugh.

So it got me thinking, sometimes I think it's great to not really show until further along, since I tell myself, the earlier you show, the bigger you can get.  (Not sure if that's really true.)  But then I think how nice random people were at the end of my last pregnancy.  You know, they smile at you, hold doors, offer you a seat, etc.  Then I think that by not showing, you miss out on several months of that.

So, anyone else notice people are nicer to you when you have a bump?

Re: Bump (or lack thereof)

  • I don't have much of a bump unless I wear super tight clothes (which I don't feel comfortable doing) and even when I do, apparently it is still questionable to some people whether its a baby belly or a fat belly. I'm ok not showing for a little longer. As long as I hear my little guy move around in there, that's all that matters :)

  • I haven't found that random people are nicer since I've had my bump, but they are definitely more intrusive!! I have thought about getting one of those shirts or buttons that says "unless you put it there, don't touch it!" lol

  • Yes, I have found that people are much nicer and more friendly now that I am noticeably pregnant. I find random people smiling at me, which is nice and creepy all at the same time. I have a noticeable bump, but when I wear regular clothes, I feel like I just look like I have a huge gut, but when I wear maternity shirts, it is clear that I am pregnant. Therefore, I now exclusively wear maternity shirts!
