I have an almost 4 yr boy who is starting to use his own bathroom instead of mine. The problem is his bathroom is carpeted!! I know 3 weeks before a new baby is not the time to pull up carpet and tile a bathroom but I really would like to get it done. Please talk me down from this over zealous house project!!!
I would wait till after baby. In the mean time get a carpet protector thing like they use with office chairs. It will protect the carpet till you are ready to tackle it
Lol. I am going to go with you on the crazy project idea! I just. No. I couldn't do the pee on carpet thing, it would drive me up the wall. But, this is coming from a girl who literally just sent her husband to pick up a dresser and end table for the baby room that I plan to strip and paint. Did I mention I was due yesterday?

Thanks ladies. I know its a crazy idea but the smell of pee is so gross! I am sure my super prego sniffer doesn't help. I am 36 w 4 d, but the boy had to be evicted at 41 weeks due to no progression so I am expecting to make it to the 39 week RCS.
If you can find a contractor who has a free day this week I would definitely do it. That's a one day job and then return a day or two later to seal the grout. Easy and then it's out of the way!

I second this, or just do it! I would. Well, I'd make my carpenter hubby do it...
Yuck there's no way I could stand carpet in the bathroom one day longer than I had to. I change out our bath mats 2x a week because the thought of leaving them in there any longer than that skeeves me out. Pulling carpet and laying tile in a room as small as a bathroom can be done in two days by a professional or one weekend if you DIY. I would definitely take care of this ASAP if it were my house.
I'd do it. But take that with a grain of salt because we've been redoing or house ourselves since February, so the idea of a project that small seems like a piece of cake to me. Our house to do list is much longer.

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to have to put rugs down. The hubs gave me a no go on any more projects. He has a handful of things he wants to complete around the house before she gets here. With the big one being new siding and paint on the house. (we are hiring pros for those jobs) Where would you find plastic like under an office chair mat shaped for the toilet? Maybe we can cut the chair mat down to size. Time to go shopping!
Good luck! I would have hired someone to do it. It only takes a day for a professional and really isn't that much.

Office Depot or Staples. I would just get a few cheap bath mats though. They are easy to pop in the wash. Plus if you use a hard plastic like chair mats then pee will just puddle up on top of those and make an even bigger mess.

Carpet in bathrooms is beyond crazy- especially when a little boy is involved. Good luck!
