I know a couple celebrities in the genetics world but I didn't think that would count.
Those that know hockey, I know Mike Fisher (he dated my cousin) and I know Mike Smith (he asked me out once but I was already with DH, he is super nice). I know Jay Mclemment (he is stupid).
The first year I moved to Los Angeles, a friend invited us to Thanksgiving dinner at his parent's house. Turns out that Sharon Stone is a close family friend, so we got to eat dinner with her. It was interesting.
We've seen dozens of other celebrities here, but I never approach them. My H did high five Dave Grohl.
Derek Jeter- baseball player- I had NO clue. I was in line at Starbucks and he was right behind me. We talked for like 4 seconds about our favorite drinks. And after I paid I went to the table right in front of the line and sat down to wait on DH who walked up as I set my bag down- he looks up and does a double take and goes OMG! THAT IS DEREK JETER. I was like who? haha oops!
I have met Brad Pitt's brother. I went on a date with a minor league baseball catcher. I don't know if he ever made it to the majors, though, and I don't remember his name. I've met Clarence Clemons. Ted Nugent used to hunt on my Ex-H's family's land.
"To be able to practice five things everywhere under heaven constitutes perfect virtue...gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness."
My dad met Matt Williams (a former baseball player with the Giants, Indians and Diamondbacks). My parents saw Huey Lewis when they were doing laundry once. The same day I got engaged, I got Clay Buchholz's autograph. He is a pitcher with the Red Sox. I told him he pitched a good game the night before, he said thank you. Does this count as a celebrity?
Professional athletes count! Sounds like you really know baseball...big Giants fan here.
I used to work for Sony Records and I met a lot of really interesting celebrities. I used to tour around the country with bands and it was a ton of fun minus the part where I would constantly get thrown out of the backstage of venues due to being young and no one believing that I worked with the bands. I hate to burst any bubbles but John Mayer is the biggest douchenozzle you could possibly imagine.
I was also a radio DJ for a while which allowed me to meet and interview several musicians and in college (the first time) I was the president of the entertainment council so I got to book all of the bands and comedians and meet them. The only comedians I ever hung out with that we booked were David Cross and D.L Hughley. David was AMAZING but D.L. was possibly the biggest asshole I've ever met.

My DH hung out with the band Cross Canadian Ragweed for his bachelor party. They were at the same bar and ended up playing pool with them all night. I have no famous people I've met.
In my line of work I meet a lot of them. To name some of the more popular ones, Ryan goesling, George clooney, Janet Jackson, the lumineers, majority of the NL baseball players, several NFL players invluding tim tebow, a few of the chefs that were on top chef, guy feiri... I could name more but you get the point.
Me and my best friend saw Hawthorne Heights, and then went to a bar and grill later and I sat and talked to Casey Calvert while waiting on my drink. I maaaay have been laying on the charm pretty thick.
He died a few months later, sadly.

I met David Gray. It was amazing, I didn't cry or pee my pants or anything. I got a picture and everything. I don't even care that my hair looks like a mushroom. I love him so hard.

Jeff Gordon, Dierks Bentley (I was 18 and got a kiss on the cheek ), Lonestar, Jake Owen, Leann Rimes, A few baseball players... a few other country singers that I can't think of at the moment.
I met Brad Garrett (Robert from Everybody loves Raymond). That dude is taaallllll and SO nice.
I also danced with Matt Gallant from Animal Planet. This was all at a Make A Wish function DHs mom was in charge of so there were celebs all over but those two stood out because they were fun to hang out with.
I come from a big hockey town. I am very good friends if Brayden Holtby. I grew up with him. I know Scott hartnell and wade redden. I know several retired players as well. My dads good friend played goal for a team and their neighbour used to play for the ducks!!

Hmm I'm sitting here thinking of all the professions you could be in.... I bet you have lots of stories or at least people think you do, right?
I work in sales in a hotel with a focus on entertainment and sports. I basically just getrto meet all of my clients. Also, the stories of a hotel employee are legendary. I have seen far more in the 5 years I have been in a hotel than I had the rest of my years combined.
I was a Stabbing Westward groupie in college. Got on their tour bus two times they came to Detroit (no sexy times, just funny guys). I also worked at Borders books headquarters a few years before the bankruptcy (womp womp). They had a special events room for artists and writers to come in for meet and greets. I specifically remember getting autographs from Sam Roberts, Jeff Timmons and Suze Orman. I loved working there. I got a free set of Harry Potter hardcovers (1-4) from the vendor rep and lots of other new releases. I was disappointed my next job didn't have any celeb sightings (I was in NYC a lot). Our office was in the Project Runway building. I SOOO wanted to run into Tim Gunn!!
Ive met Mia Farrow, and Chris Meloni they both shop in the grocery store I work at PT pretty regularly. Jesse McCartney, Patricia Richardson, and Clinton Kelly also have came in once or twice!
I apparently can't pip from my iPad or I'd share the pic of meeting Mike O'Malley (Yes Dear, Glee) outside a bar in NH the night of my bachelorette. When I asked him to take a pic, he wanted to do prom poses. He also showed me pics of his kids. He was very cool.
My cousin is in the music industry but behind the scenes. He has worked with many major recording artists. He isn't persay famous, but is known for being one of the best at what he does with many musicians and has a waiting list of many major bands and singers. He has worked with nickelback, Bon jovi, Celine dion, Tim McGraw and other artists. He had one awards for the music he had done.
I met John Mellancamp aka Johnny Cougar, and Meg Ryan once.
I know he (they) live here but I have no idea what he looks like! I could have sat next to him at a bar and had no idea. I do, however, know what Meg Ryan looks like. Are they still an item? I wonder.

Re: Those who love-it-ed meeting a celebrity...
I "loved it" for Clint Eastwood. I met him at his ranch in Carmel, CA.
Taye Diggs at Rent
Mr. Rogers
My boyfriend in college was in a couple movies.
Of Chicago. Rod Blagojevitch tried to shake my hand and I was all, "Um, no..."
My H has met Chino from Deftones and has a picture to prove it!

Paula Deen at a book signing.
Not too impressive.
