TTC After a Loss

Sorry if this had been asked before- TTC after early mc how long should we wait?

I just had a very early mc 5-6 wks. I saw my doc yesterday who said we could try again straight away. My question is whether its best to wait 1 more cycle? We want to try right away but I am worried that my body may need one cycle to get back to normal and if we don't give it that we could lose the next one too? I am 35

  • I'm sorry for your loss.

Yes this question has been asked a bazillion times. We usually tell people to ask their doctor but you've already discussed this with him. If you aren't comfortable trying yet then wait. 1 more cycle isn't much at all in the grand scheme of things.

We've got tons of info on the topic in our TTCAL blog. Click the blue badge in my signature or the link in the board's header.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  The answer is usually whenever your doctor clears you, which sounds like it has already happened.  It's just as important to be ready emotionally as it is to be cleared by a doctor.  I think if you are more comfortable and would feel less fear waiting a cycles, then that may be the right choice for you.

The link to the blog is in my siggy (the blue badge).  It has a lot of helpful information and FAQ as you start TTC again.  I also encourage you to get involved here by lurking, reading the blog, and posting an intro giving us some background about you and your journey.  Best of luck!!

This is probably one of the most asked questions on this board. If you're not ready, then there's nothing wrong with waiting one cycle. Just because your doctor said you could try again right away, doesn't mean you have to. Most women I've seen wait 2-3 cycles. It's been about 9 for me. If you're more comfortable waiting one or 2 cycles, then that's what's right for you.
All of this.  I'm sorry for your loss.

  • Very sorry for your loss.

I agree with all PP's...If you Dr says its ok then it's just up to how you feel.  If you don't feel ready to, then don't.
