  • If you want to.

Some say not to, some say it's okay.  It's okay in my book.

  • Tuna from a can is cool. It's mahi mahi or tuna steaks cooked rare that aren't cool (or are?). I've eaten tuna salad without a second thought. I do heat my lunch meats in the microwave, and boy am I dying to get some sushi and blue cheese into my gut after this baby is born.

  • mmgkms....why did you think it was sarcasm lol....my books said no tuna as well.
After three miscarriages and one ectopic pregnancy we are currently pursuing adoption. " Born not from our flesh, but born in our heart. You were longed for and wanted and loved from the start."
  • I've eaten tuna (from a can) throughout my pregnancy. The only tuna that is a no no is tuna steaks, high mercury. Everything in moderation of course.

  • It's fine in moderation, I believe no more than 12 ounces a week.  If you can, avoid albacore because it's higher in mercury, but I love albacore so I've just been eating it rarely.

  • Why couldn't you?
  • Glad I wasn't the only one that hoped this was a joke...
  • I was hoping it was a j/k post.  Then I thought mud.  Knowing it's a serious question makes my brain hurt.

  • I must be going to pregnancy hell. I've had sushi, drank some wine, take hot baths all the time, had tuna, lunch meat several times a week (without heating it up), coffee, mochas, I had salmon TWICE this week too. Oh, I've had soft cheeses that probably weren't pasteurized too.

Wonder what they tell all the pregnant gals in Japan, China, Italy, France, etc?? Don't eat this or that or drink this. Blah blah blah

  • @HFrizzle so with you! I ate like a perfect little princess all through 1st and 2nd tri.. and most of 3rd tri. I've been a little bad lately.

Besides, if people are worried about the mercury in tuna hurting unborn children, shouldn't we turn our attention to pollution so I can eventually get clean tuna and then eat all the tuna I freaking want? That shit has omega 3s.

  • I eat Tuna often, so yummy...I just watch where I get it from. For example, if I get it from Subway or Mr.Sub I make sure the tuna is pink or white in colour and not brown.

I can't do the heated lunch meat, to me that just sounds yucky. I do get lunch meat and make my sandwiches at home so that I know the meat has been taken care of correctly so I don't get sick . I make sure I get packaged meats and not deli meats.

I had salmon on back to back nights this week as well. Honestly, I'd probably eat a tuna steak if I hadn't had any other seafood that week. I'm not as worried about mercury as I am food poisoning.

  • My doc said as long as it's not albacore you're in the clear. You want the light tuna which is what they use at most deli's like Subway but you should always ask about the mercury content.
