If lunch meat is wrong...

Then I don't want to be right. Seriously, the thought of food right now makes me queasy, but anything in sandwich form I'm ok with, including wraps, burritos, etc. I know there are some who are not eating lunch meat right now, but my doc gave it the ok and I'm so thankful!!

All over office today people are eating deliciously stacked sandwiches! There is a huge one in the break room for anyone to get after and I've eyed that mother effer every time I go to the bathroom!! @-)

My dr told me I could have lunch meat unless it has been sitting in the fridge for more than 5 days.

  • We had sandwiches at work for a luncheon.  They looked too good to pass up - so I just popped mine in the microwave.  It was SO GOOD!
  • I drink a small coke every couple days & honestly, I don't care. I believe in moderation/small portions for "controversial" foods/drinks.

@Pineconey why are you a temptress with the meat!? The sandwich back there is from Quiznos safe or no? You tell me and ill do it I'm very easy to influence today!!

  • My doc said lunch meat is fine, just not deli meat (which sits in those cases for who knows how long). As long as the lunch meat is packaged and not expired, you're fine. Subway is also fine according to my doc!
  • I had half a panini at Panera yesterday and I swear it was the best thing EVER

  • I just microwave the meat first.  It I go to a sandwich place I will ask them to microwave the meat first too.

  • The chances of listeria infecting cooked meat is pretty slim, anyway. The reason they tell you to heat it up is on the off chance that somehow, between slicing the cooked meat and packaging it, it came into contact with raw meat again. I've never worked at a deli, but I'm thinking for health code reasons, folks be keeping cooked meat from raw.

  • Mine also ok'd it. He said that you're more likely to catch listeria from cantaloupe than you are lunchmeat. Thank god too because I'm craving an Italian sub with extra pickles ;)

My OB said a coke once in a while is perfectly fine. I bought a coke as soon as I left her office
  • But, she has a third eye and a tail, so take it for whatever it's worth.  ;)

    I love you for this!!!

Rock on with your (fresh) lunch meat! If there were a McAllister's near me, I'd be eating a New Yorker with spicy mustard Right. This. Second.

Damn. That's the only thing that's sounded decent all week.

  • We just got a Jimmy John's by my work. I tried the vegetarian sandwich and.... it was just OK. Glad to know if I try the turkey (like i REALLY wanted to) I'll be in good company!
  • Subway sounds so good right now! I tend to crave what I can't have. Man I could go for a nice glass of wine...

I have one can a day of coke. Its well under the caffeine limit for us ladies and I don't drink coffee. Technically, its my coffee. Always in the morning. Like, right now :-)

  • Glad to hear that a Subway sandwich TOASTED would probably be okay.. I am at a loss for what to bring for lunch... and not that much sounds good anyway :( I sure love Subway though!!

  • Well, my doc advised that I shouldn't have 4 big Italians a day, but he also said he would suggest that pregnant or not.... Personally I think he has it out for the industry.

  • I have up to 2 cups of coffee a day sometimes, I use the same soap (I use it on my face too, skin is skin so why do people change their face soap and not body soap? umm), deodorant, shampoo, conditioner... nail polish, lotion, etc. My child will survive. Jimmy Johns sounds amazing now!

  • I asked my dr about lunch meat and she said it is totally fine (doesn't need to be heated). We just can't have unpastuerized or undercooked meat.
  • I didn't realize people changed soaps, that would never have occurred to me
  • The largest listeria outbreak since 1998 came from cantaloupe....the largest food poisoning outbreak of 2013 came from packaged salad mix and organic spinach. Sushi in this country is flash frozen and all cheeses are pasteurized.

If you really want to keep that baby safe, I would avoid driving!

Seriously though, you guys are too hard on yourselves. To each their own but feeling guilty for merely wanting a sandwich is silly.
  • Im actually finding the veggie subs at subway delicious! You can still have cheese (although i dont) and any of the yummy sauces. Extra pickles yes please!!
