My first HCG test on 8/20 was a 42. I retested on 8/23 and had a level of 203. Today they are sending me for another HCG test and now adding in a progesterone test. I'm getting scared.

They also said if all goes well, I can have my first ultrasound on Sept. 9th to check for "viability".

I keep telling myself that there is no reason to panic yet. I swear this office loves to scare people.

those numbers are good!  focus on that happy news for now, and take a deep breath.  you can only go one day at a time, and today you are pregnant, so that's something to celebrate!

They kept retesting me too.  I'm going in for my u/s tomorrow   I fully expect everything to be fine!

Your numbers are increasing and that's a great sign! I think viable is just the common word they use before first ultrasounds. I agree though, it's sounds so scary! Good luck and keep us posted!

Don't stress . I had to be retested and I don't know where my numbers started but 2nd test was 6000. It will be ok!!!! Ps I agree I think they enjoy freakinf is out

Sitting in the lab now for my HCG and progesterone test. Saw the lab slip. It said under the reason for test, "threatened miscarriage in early pregnancy". I'm going to throw up.

Do you have a history of miscarriage? It may still be a precaution because the numbers are doubling!!

viable sounds like a scary word but medical professionals don't use it to scare you. if it bothers you substitute healthy, living, growth or alive when they say viable. Checking for viability just means checking to make sure your baby is healthy and growing. Make the term yours and it might make you more comfortable.
