First u/s at 8 weeks?!?

We're going to a new OB recommended by my primary care physician. Just called to make an appointment and the first they had available is three weeks from now! When I'll be in week 8!!! Is it really ok to wait that long? Or should we look for someone else? Not to mention that I have about a million questions about medication, the supplements I'm taking, etc, plus I really want a doctor-given due date!!!! Am I overreacting? When did ya'll have your first u/s and OB visit? Would you try and find someone else with sooner availability if you were me?

Yep completely normal. Some wont see you until 10-12 weeks. You can always call your OB with questions before your appointment.

I think it's pretty normal, too.  My first midwife appointment is 9w5d.

Does your doctor take calls?  It's pretty important to find out about the medications you're on.  My docs were great about communicating with each other and with me once we knew I was pg.  I think a call in would be a good idea, and it can't hurt, anyway.

It is very normal and common to not see an OB until 9-10 weeks. Most won't see you before 8 weeks and don't do an ultrasound until 12 weeks. If you have questions about medications, etc. you should be able to ask a nurse or midwife over the phone before your first visit. They will date your pregnancy at your first ultrasound when they can accurately measure the crown to rump length. It's hard to get measurements until you're about 8 weeks, plus there will definitely be a heartbeat by then

I know it's hard to wait, but time will fly by!

Totally normal unless you're high risk or conceived after being treated for infertility. My first appt was today and I'm 1 day shy of 9 weeks.

I go in at 11 weeks and ultrasound at 13.

I went at 5 and was very disappointed, couldn't really see anything. I was very anxious and excited just like you, I understand why they make you wait. The only thing you get to see is a back sac. I have my 8 week appointment next Tuesday and can't wait!

My first appt was at 8w and I won't have my first US until 11w.

My first app was at 5w6d and my first u/s isn't until sept 11 when I'll be 9w6d. It's nothing to worry about. My ob was telling that they use to not do u/s till 20 weeks!! I would go insane waiting that long!

I'm 8 weeks this week and haven't even called my midwife, with my DS I didn't get an appointment until 10 weeks and they said they normally wouldn't do an u/s until 12 for the nt scan or 20 for anatomy.

I'm very blessed to have my Indian CDIB card. Everything is free and I know that they are doing just what needs to be done and what's best. It's very reassuring.
