Shower day of the week

Do you think Saturday is an acceptable day for a baby shower? My mom was thinking Saturday, November 16th for no particular reason other than you still get Sunday to relax and go back to work Monday. Is Saturday considered rude compared to Sunday or am I over thinking and it's the same thing?

  • Why would it be rude?

  • I've been to showers on both Saturdays and Sundays and have never felt like one day was preferred over another.  I think since most showers happen in the afternoon you shouldn't run in to conflicts with church but you might run in to some football issues if any of your friends are fans ;).

  • I don't know... I just feel like all bridal and baby showers I've been to have been Sundays? Maybe I really am totally over thinking it then!

And I didn't even think of football! In which case Saturday would totally be better!

  • I much prefer a Saturday shower, Sundays are for church and relaxing!
  • I vote for Saturday!

  • Over-thinking it. I've been to many showers (baby and bridal) on a Saturday. Mine will be the Saturday after yours in Nov!

  • Most of the showers I've been to/had were on Saturdays. :)
  • I think either Saturday or Sunday are totally acceptable!  I'm actually having one of my showers on the 16th :)

  • The only Sundays I've been to were because the church held them for someone!
  • Either is totally fine. If I had a choice, I would choose a Saturday.

  • Monday-Friday would get a side eye from me because I work and my evenings are busy. Saturday versus Sunday does not matter to me one bit. Totally fine!

  • I think that any day of the weekend is fine. As long as it's in the afternoon. Depending on your guests a sunday 11am brunch might not be a good option because it will probably conflict with church. Personally I prefer events that are on Saturday so I still have Sunday to relax with my DH.

  • I get what you mean. Until I was 38 years old I had never been to one on anything but a Sunday, so I thought it was a rule or something. Nope, just more of a custom for my circle of friends/family/church.
  • Personally, Saturdays are better for me, as DH is a pastor and Sunday is pretty much a work day for us.

  • I've had a part time second job at a restaurant for awhile and have seen both baby and bridal showers on either day. Just from experience, Sundays can be cheaper per person because there is less demand for parties depending on the venue. Also, since Saturday is a popular day for going out if you have a lot of people who work where people go on Saturdays it is harder for them to take off.

  • Hm I think I have only been to Saturday showers!

  • I've only been to Saturday showers. I had my shower on a Saturday last time. We have family all over and my mom and sister were hosting so I (and many of my guests) had to travel to get there so Saturday made the most sense, since it left Sunday available for everyone to get back home.

  • It's been about 50/50 for my friends with Sat/Sun showers. And I would say that 2 or 3pm are the most frequent starting times. Do what works for you, and what you think will work best for the majority of the guests.
