Cloth Diapering

Small vent/help me *edited*

So tonight DD came home from daycare in a sposie. Her daycare room is undergoing a shift change of teachers in her room because her primary is 5 months pregnant. The teachers excuse was that she "didn't know" which makes no sense to me. You'd have to have taken a cloth diaper OFF of her to change her. I think she was unfamiliar with cloth and didn't want to ask. Which really bugs me because DD has a rash on her bum now from this one sposie, and she pooped on the way home and it made me gag to change it, it was so foul smelling with the chemical stink. I don't know what brand this is, but it's gross. Anyways, I'm going to call the director, not to be "that mom" but just to offer yet again for myself or DH to show how to use CDs to ANY of the teachers that interact with her who wish to learn.

On a side but related note. Does anybody know of a CD site that ships to Canada who sells "adapt-a-snap type gear so I can maybe make this SUPER easy on them. I prefer snaps so I don't want to trade out any of my stash, but maybe these could be a cheap compromise? Anybody have good/bad experience with them?

Edited for DD's first ever bump posts. Pardon to those who opened this and got random typing that was done by DD while I let the dogs out and left this window open. *sigh*

  • My DC initials each diaper change so we know exactly who it was. Dies yours? If so you could explain it to them directly. I think if you made it clear to the director that it's a health issue, they should be more accommodating.

  • I sent DS with pockets to daycare when he was in diapers.  We sent him with BG OS, pre-stuffed, snaps already at the correct spot for the rise so they just had to do up the snaps around his waist and he was good to go.  They were really supportive of it and took to it right away.  We had some sunbaby diapers too that were the same to send him in with.

  • *Sigh* You have every right in the world to be "that mom"...The teacher saying that she was unaware due to a shift change is not only ridiculous because of what you stated but it is also DANGEROUS.  My first thought was what if this were an allergy to food or a cleaning agent like bleach?  Would this teachers reaction been as nonchalant?  I would ask the director that same question.  I would be absolutely pissed off if I were you since obviously your daughter reacted badly to the disposable!  Good luck with it hon!! :)

The sad part is this is exactly what we have done all along. Pockets, pre-stuffed, snapped to the proper rise, just have to do them up. Can't get much more simple. That's why I was annoyed.

I called the director this morning to say DD would be late and just "nonchalantly" mentioned the sposie and that I'm not saying CLOTH OR NOTHING! SPOSIES ARE THE DEVIL! Just that we bought them to use, we prefer them, and she clearly reacted to it. (It didn't help that they used the most vile sposie ever; it reeked, and got really oddly puffy when it was wet. I wanted to ask about the brand to let others know to avoid it). Like sunkissed said, they don't know why we chose them, they just agreed to it. For all they know she could be allergic. Anyway, I offered to show anybody who wanted a refresher how to do them up properly to avoid leaks, etc. We'll see what happens.

  • Buy snap pliers, snaps, and Velcro. It will be cheaper.

Would it be cheaper? I know it would be if I wanted to convert all of my dipes because it saves on a whole stash, but I've seen these things for like $6. Can I get all of those things and still make the effort worth the difference? I love DIY but I AM lazy.

I guess it depends on how many you need. I thought they were more in the $9 range, but still at $6 unless you plan on having them unsnap the aplix strips and put them on the next diaper every time, you'd probably come out ahead DIY. Do you have Joanns there? You can use a 40% off coupon on the babyville pliers, that's what I use and they work just fine
No, in I've never seen a Joanns in Canada. Maybe I'm wrong. We have Michaels...maybe the same? I'd maybe get 2...I just wish they could always get this right so I wouldn't have to do anything.
