Late period, severe back pain, negative pregnancy test...

Hey everyone.

First of all I am not on the pill or using any protection against pregnancy.

I have been having lower back pain since my last period in July, it has gotten worse in the last couple weeks. Last Monday I went to my family doctor about the pain, she figures it is muscle related and wanted to give me a steroid shot. But after I explained I was a week late getting my period she had me do a urine test (negative) so she thought lets be certain by doing a blood test which had to be sent off (also negative). I haven't gone back to get the steroid shot because I am nervous as I still haven't started my period, now I am 2 weeks late and the back pain is awful! A friend told me she had back pain like im describing when she first found out she was pregnant. But I had a blood test done which I thought was always 100% accurate. Maybe I need to call my OB.

Has anyone ever had a negative blood test that later turned out to be positive?
