I stayed home with ds until he was about 8 months old. The pump I had sucked but it worked for the minimal use that I used it for. With DD, I will have to go back much sooner and I will be away from her longer so I need a really good breast pump. One that will be easy to take back and forth etc.
Cost may not matter because some of DH's family wants to go in together on a big gift and it may or may not be the pump

i have the madela pump in style advanced. in the backpack version. it is portable (but not tiny..although i do take it on airplane rides, etc), and strong. ive used it through both babies (still use it with duncan at 16 months) and the suction is still perfect.
Definitely check with your health insurance! I have the Freestyle and I like it, but I think the PISA has a stronger motor (although it's less portable). If you can keep the PISA at work and not have to carry it back and forth, then that might be your best option.
I have the PISA. I've also heard its motor is stronger than the freestyle. I didn't have any problem transporting it to and from work, it's about the size of an average purse and not at all heavy.
Ditto what PPs said about checking with your insurance. I think they will cover something 100%. I also second the medela pump in style. Easy to transport and a really good pump.
Insurance is a no go. We are with a Christian network that qualities to be insurance but doesn't have to follow insurance guidelines. Times like this it sucks
Thanks for the suggestions!

if you do end up going with the pisa...make sure to check out all of the carrying options...there is a backpack, a purse looking option, etc. that way you can decide which would be best for taking to work or anywhere else.
Re: Recommend breast pump
I have the Medela freestyle. It's super portable, battery charge lasts me a couple weeks. I have never had any issues with it through 2 kids.
