Another name poll--baby due any day

I have not posted on here much so I am interested in what you think. I change my mind about every other hour on what name we will use for our baby due very soon. We are down to two names: Hazel and Willa. I know "old lady" names or on the rise in general but these are names I have loved for awhile.

We like them both for different reasons. I like the Z in Hazel and that it is fun/funky, nature-y, and vintage-y. However, it was ranked 57/100 in my city last year and that is just much more popular than I realized. I do not know anyone who has personally used the name but I do hear it a lot more in the community and with the YA movie coming out, I worry it will keep rising in popularity and there will be even more running around.

Willa is just sweet and different. I like the way it rolls of the tongue. It has similar qualities being that it is vintage and fun. It is much less common which I like.

We have thought about combining them either way (even though the flow isn't ideal) but the first name is most important to me. I just don't want to regret the decision either way. Thanks!

I prefer Willa, though I like it even more as a nickname for Wilhelmina.

I just cannot like Hazel. Even though it's a family name for me -- my great-grandmother was Hazel, but I just can't see anyone looking at a little baby and saddling her with a name like Hazel.

I love Willa. One of my potential girl names is Willow actually. Hazel is great, but we own coffees shops in a few Seattle neighborhoods and there are baby Hazels coming out in droves. It it trendy and there will be more. Willa is a safer choice to avoid the trendiness. However, Hazel is a retro cool name and I'm a sucker for Z's too.

I prefer Hazel. I associate Willa with Willa Cather, and My Antonia was the most boring read of my life. Even worse than Moby Dick, and that's saying something.

I love both. Willa is the more unusual one of the two, I love it as a stand-alone and as a nn for Wilhelmina. I love Hazel for being fun and vintage. I get the feeling that you like Hazel more, but are afraid of it getting too popular. Honestly, I think that you should go with the name that you love the most. There's really no predicting popularity and IMO it's worse when you regret not using a name due to popularity then regret using a name because more people agree that it's a great name.

Yeah, it is usually pretty split down the middle whenever I share the names.

2MamazInSeattle--we live in the PCNW too and I definitely think Hazel is becoming super common here. Bummer.

Willa Hazel

Hazel Willa (does not flow as well) but its not often you use or hear the middle name.

We just have to decide which one we like more, which we don't seem to know.
