I went to two different high schools-- two years each. The first one was a very, very small school. I believe their graduating class was less than 50, so we were all close to each other. It was kind of one big family. My current closest IRL friends are from that high school.
The second HS I moved back to my home town after parents divorced. I went to this school from K-7th grade before moving back junior year. Despite growing up with these people, they treated me like shit. I was an outcast to most, so I graduated early to GTFO of there.

I totally want to be all Billy Madison and go through school again. It's intensified even more now that L started school.
I still get ridiculously excited when I see the school supplies on sale just before school.

Things were mostly good. I did well in school and enjoyed my classes, had good friends on my sports teams, did band and drama. A few popular kids were irritating jerks, but I wasn't really bullied.
The big scar on the high school years was the douche face who sexually harassed and assualted me, and a bunch of other girls, my senior year. He'd joke he could make us like being raped, shoved us again lockers to grope us, try to grab at our necklines and hems to spot the color of our underwear, follow us through the halls to say explicit crap... it was bad. And the administration told us that we should feel bad for him because he was on probation and if the school kicked him out for harassment, he would go to jail and be unable to support his daughte.r So we should just try to sit farther away from him and not walk alone.
Really, I enjoyed most of high school... but that part will always be a huge dark cloud. It sucked that he did that, and it sucked that our administration didn't stand up for us. I can't think of high school without remembering that moment when I realized his "sad life" matter more than our suffering. It turned me into a feminist.
Luckily doucheface is actually in prison now, so I won't be seeing him tonight.
I had these two girls in middle school who were total bullies to me and a friend in a couple classes we all had together. I don't think we were singled out so much as they were just snatches to any and everyone possible. I dreaded HS with these two, and just wanted nothing more than for them to go away. One got expelled the first week of freshman year (don't recall what for) and had to go to another district; and then other was around for maybe a month before her parents enrolled her in Catholic HS.
I believe it was 2-3 girls. But I would encounter them walking home. I would take different routes and somehow they would be there waiting for me. It was the worse feeeling.
I never saw them in HS moved & went to a Catholic HS. I remember to this day feeling scared and could not understand so hate for another person you did not know at all.
@cinemagoddess, I loved school supply shopping! I would sit in my room for hours organizing my stuff and decorating my folder. I always had the three ring view binders that had clear plastic cover so I could fangirl photos of my favorite bands.
Same! Except it was teen heartthrobs instead of bands.

It was okay for me but got better by Jr. Year. I grew a set of big boobs the summer before and suddenly all the boys liked me. It was nice to tell them to fuck off!
At this point... It's just one of those things. I'm more angry at the administration's response than him, really. I mean, he didn't hide his shittiness. They did.
It did make me re-evaluate a lot of my views though. We all have to learn the world isn't black and white and puppies and rainbows sometime, right? I'd been very sheltered till then, and while I wouldn't have chosen to experience it, it is a part of my past and a major life lesson.
I mostly loved high school. I had friends accross multiple groups. I was fairly popular. I had a few classes I loved. I participated in extracurriculars. I was captain of the step team my senior year. The only time I really disliked school was around report card time.

@crashintome1 I wish I could insert a PIP of Buddy the Elf right now Smiling's my favorite!
I liked HS. I had friends, I did extracurriculars, I got good grades and was in a bunch of AP classes. That being said, I never.ever want to go back! I remember graduating and thinking "those were supposed to be the best years of my life?! Well. That sucks." I agree college was way better! But still not the best years of my life!

I generally liked high school overall. My junior year I started dating a college guy (oh, I'm soo cool, j/k) and didn't really participate in any of the extra curricular stuff. I also did not go to prom, instead we went on vacation. My best friend was prom queen and that is really the only reason I regret not going. My senior year I had enough credits to only go half days, which was pretty awesome. We had the block schedule also, so I had three 2 hour and 15 minute classes - that I liked!
My high school was large so there was usually a place for everyone to fit in somewhere... I had my small little group of friends, and then many acquaintances across the aisles ... I was in the jazz band and regular band, so those were the crowds I mainly hung with, aside from my bestfriend
I wouldnt say I ENJOYED high school...there were some good moments and bad moments...I was struggling alot at the time with some depression and anxiety issues and I missed alot of days during my senior year (though managed to get through it and graduate)... I had a boyfriend (my H now) but he was long distance so instead of sneaking out and partying at night I stayed home talking to him until the wee hours on the computer or phone...I'm sure my Mom appreciated that ..haha.
It was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than middle school though. (Jr High)...that was a nightmare.
I didn't enjoy school at all until high school. That's when I really came into my own, and stopped worrying what others thought. I made friends, no one especially close, but at least I had people to sit with in the lunch room. Over all, it was a good experience, although I did skip out a lot.
I liked it. Wayyyy better than jr High. I went to a huge school with a graduating class of over 900 so it was too big really to have "popular" groups. I played sports and hung out with friends, and classes were generally easy. I mean, there was always drama with friends but overall pretty carefree and great. If I could go back today, I'd do it the same but be more outgoing
It was ok. I was the metal chick at a catholic boys' school - first year they opened up for girls. I had rough times for not fitting in, but I also didn't really give a shit. I went to that school grade 5 to 13, as is normal in Germany, so it's a long time if you are not happy.
I loved our JROTC program and the friends I made there. It made it easier to ignore being bullied, and it was awesome when everyone in the armory backed me up when some bitches came looking to fight me (they agreed it was a good idea to go for a walk on the football field ) and probably kept me from dropping out or worse. I hated my non-band, non-JROTC classmates.
