3rd Trimester

33 Weeks Tomorrow and Baby is still breached...

I know this is nothing to be too worried about just yet, just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and what you did to get the baby to turn?!? My Dr recommended doing some pelvic exercises just wanted to see if anyone had done these and what seemed to work for you :)

Re: 33 Weeks Tomorrow and Baby is still breached...

  • Hi, my baby was breeched week 32 and he flipped the following week. I did hang around with my butt up and head lower a couple of times. but not a lot. Now I am 37 weeks and he flipped again and he is breeched. I am all ready having lots of contractions so anytime I have one i get on my fours and stick my butt out. My dr. said I have plenty of fluid so he flips around whenever he pleases. He might flip again since there is still space but if he doesn't then its a c-section for me ;( We didn't want to try ECV we were worried it might do more harm than good. Good luck I hope your baby won't be as stubborn and flip ;)

  • It doesn't really matter until later. Your LO still has time to flip. Try not to worry about it.

  • Try the pelvic exercises your doc recommended, s/he is a doctor.

  • Do the exercises and wait it out.  Your LO could flip many times between now and then.
  • Mine flipped just before 36w. Do whatever the doctor recommended and just relax. It is very common.

  • My doctor said not to worry until 36 weeks.  Even then, she said a lot of babies can still flip past 37 weeks.

  • Some babies flip during labor! I wouldn't worry about it.

I second spinningbabies.com it's a great resource for pelvic exercises to assist in getting LO into the best position.

  • I had my version scheduled for yesterday would have made me 38 wks (my ticker is wrong) so I was pretty shocked when my baby turned all on her own on Monday!!! I didn't even try any of the exercises or "tricks". So there is hope. My OB said only 3% or so of babies stay breech if you just wait it out and give them a chance to turn. Good luck!
