Infertility

Intro & hello

Hi all--- I've been on TTTC board for a while, but now that IUI def isn't an option anymore and IVF with ICSI is our only shot, I wanted to introduce myself here as well.  Info below on my signature, next step for us is testicular biopsy for DH on Sept 5th to see if they can find sperm to free for IVF w/ ICSI.  They have him on clomid pre-surgery to help out with his production issue.

Look forward to getting to know you guys better!  :-)

    Everyone welcome on my posts

  • Welcome, but sorry you have to be here. We are actually in a similar situation - my DH has azoospermia (all blood tests have came back normal, so we still don't have a reason for why this is). TESE is scheduled 1st week of September and if sperm is found we will be doing IVF/ICSI. Hope the biopsy goes well for your DH!

  • @cinnamonrollcupcake, same here, all blood tests are normal and we have no explanation for the azoospermia. Good luck to your dh on his surgery, lets keep in touch via pm, would love to hear how it goes for you.

  • Welcome to this board. I am so sorry you have to be here, but these women are a fabulous resource. My DH and I are dealing with severe MFI.  There is also a MFI check-in every so often, which you might find helpful. Have you found out what the cause is? My DH had varicocele, but fortunately the andrologist kept probing and found that the underlying cause is actually chromosomal. Good luck for your TESE! FX that they find some useable little guys!

  • @ Margritli- the initial cause was severe varicocele and hydrococele, but he had surgery to fix that and his count is still below 50.  :-(  There is no know reason now for his production issue.

IVF #2 Mar 2014- success.... baby girl born 11/28/14

I only ask because our andrologist said that he thinks that such Y-chromosome microdeletions like my DH has are actually much more common than statistics suggest, because other causes (varicocele, undescended testes, etc.) are blamed and the cause of MFI is never further investigated. Such microdeletions can cause either severe oligoasthenospermia (<5 mil.) or azoospermia. Of course, that is the DX that we got and it is hard not to see it everywhere now, but if it might also be something worth considering, if it hasn't been ruled out already. We will be doing IVF w/ ICSI, too, but the Dr. is putting DH on FSH first for three months in hopes of giving us a better shot at success. Good luck to you, lady!

  • Thanks for the insight. They tested him for y micro deletion and it was negative, so still no answers. Good luck with IVF and let's stay in touch about your journey. Good luck!
