We're on day three of kindergarten! This morning, DD1 was like, "I can't WAIT to go to kindergarten!" LOL. I think she really likes it. She's doing well with the longer school day, although on day one she was visibly exhausted when I picked her up.
It's also super sweet how much she and Elsa miss each other. One of the first things DD1 says when I pick her up is, "Now we're going to get Elsa!" Yesterday, we went into DD2's class, DD1 traipsed across the room to where DD2 was sitting at a table with her classmates, tapped her on the shoulder, and DD2 jumped up and they gave each other big hugs. The picking at each other and resultant shrieking has also dropped waaaaaay off -- I think they're both less bored, and miss each other enough that there's less conflict, which is a huge relief!
Day 3 of summer day camp for us- one of my (unfounded) fears was that DS would not do well on the bus ride. It's his first time on a full-sized school bus and it's a 45 min+ ride and packed to the gills with kids ages 4-10 seated 3 to a seat. Each morning I've watched DS get on the bus by himself and choose his own seat next to another boy his age. This morning he started talking to another little boy while lining up to get on the bus- he got on the bus and then patiently waited by the driver. I looked at him quizzically from the sidewalk and he called out "I'm waiting for my friend so we can sit together!" He just amazes me sometimes with how intune he can be with other kids, even if he comes of being so incredibly aloof.
DS is 4 years old. DH has NEVER taken DS on an outing by himself other than trips to Home Depot, etc. For all day outings, we either go as a family or I take the kids on my own.
This past Saturday, DH got DS up and out of the house at 6am so they could drive 2.5 hours away to go to an engine show. There was a real steam engine train on a 1/2 mile track, a tractor rodeo and acres and acres f classic cars, tractors, etc.
They were gone for 12 hours and when they got home, DS was soooo excited to tell me about his day with dad. DH was exhausted but said it went really well.
Third day of Kindergarten here too! He's doing we'll and figuring out the routine. He's so excited about getting 3 recesses!
He had a conversation with his teddy the other night (obviously he spoke both parts). It was adorable.
I'm picking up my 6 year old niece today even though my SIL has child care because DS asks about her every.single.day.
DS2 has not cried yet at a school drop off (YAY) and is actually talking this year in the developmental preschool. :-)
Yesterday at daycare I guess one of his friends asked him to stand or something. I got a text from the DCP saying that DS2 stood up on his own for maybe 2sec because X "asked him if he could". Apparently it was from a W sitting position so I can only imagine how incredibly awkward that had to look and feel. He didn't stand all the way up straight but his hands were not on anything to support him. :-)
2nd of week of early preschool and loves getting on the bus and going to school. He came to me the other day and wanted me to write something and he spelled out his whole first name. Just turned 3 yrs and I was so impressed that he knew how to do this.
DD walked up to DS and took the paci right out his mouth. She has an obsession with pacis. 2 min later she walked up to him on her own and held it back out to him. She has literally never handed anything to anyone intentionally before.
I'm loving all these brags!!
I have a few myself.
1. I think its safe to say we are TOTALLY potty trained! I never dreamed it would be this easy with her. Have I mentioned she has yet to have a poop accident? I fully expect an accident of some sort, we don't get away this easy do we? If she had enough hand strength to get her pants up and down on her own I think she'd just go by herself.
2. Took DD to her babysitters new house. She doesn't mind the sitters but I was concerned the move might confuse/upset her. Instead she climbed up in the sitters chair and says "Wheres Ley Ley?" her nickname for friends/sitters daughter. She has only asked "where" someone was once before in her entire life. I could have fell out of my chair. DH met me over at the sitters house when he got off work and when he showed up DD said "Daddy hold my hand" and walked with him through the house, again something new!
