Hey girls, I'm trying to find a good place to go leaf peeping, sight seeing, good seafood, maybe a festival in October. I'm in Houston and have never made it up the east coast, neither has DH. I'm thinking maybe a long weekend babymoon get away. I think a bed and breakfast would be nice but I'm not against a hotel. And lastly hopefully try not to break the bank. Thanks for your input ladies!

    i would look into Vermont.  They have amazing bed and breakfasts and it's gorgeous up there in October.  :)  Don't have any specifics though, sorry!

    Started TTC 2009 with RE after 6 months.

    IUI + Follistim x2;
    IVF #1 (MDL) February 2013- BFN.
    IVF #2 (antagonist) May 2013, First BFP of my life. 
    Identical twin miracle BOYS (!!) headed our way- due date is technically 2/4/14 but c section is scheduled for 1/7!

    You could spend a couple days in boston then rent a car and go to VT, NH, Western Mass.

    How fun! Vermont, Lake George, Mystic CT if you also want to be on the water. Around October 20th is usually close to peak leaf season in the NY/CT area.

    I agree with lizrn... spend a couple of days in Boston and rent a car and drive up to NH.  Its not a B&B, but there is a Residence Inn in Portsmouth that is great.  Portsmouth is not far from Kittery, Maine and what's in Kittery, ME?  OUTLETS!  Love going there and heading to the outlets!

    The bershires in wEstern MA are beaytiful that time of year!!  And only about a 2/3ish hour drive to Boston which is a fun place to spend a day

    I went to Boston and NH years ago to meet an ex's family and it was amazing there!! I would highly recommend it!

    Hudson River valley area in NY is gorgeous during leaf season. Easy to fly into NY and drive up the Northway. West Point area, Bear Mountain, Cold Spring. Could always arrange to spend a night in NYC if you want to catch a show along the way.

    The Berkshires in western Mass, the Monadnock region of NH, and anything in VT are beautiful. You could fly into Bradley airport (which is about 20 min from Springfield, MA) and drive north along I-91. The Berkshires will be everything you can see to the West along I-91 in MA. The Vermont border is only an hour or so from Bradley if you drove straight through, but there are lots of towns you could stop at along the way. Amherst, MA and Nothampton, MA are two that come to mind that are right off the highway. Just over the VT Border is Brattleboro, VT, and from there if you take exit 3 for route 9 east you will end up in Keene, NH in about 30 min which is the heart of the Monadnock region (and where I grew up!). If you go in mid-October, they have a pumpkin festival (10-19 this year) which is an iconic aspect of the town. The record is something like 28,000 jack o lanterns! Anyway, if you want seafood as well I would recommend continuing east on route 9/202 and head for the Dover, NH area on the coast. From there it would not be far to drive south into Boston and fly out of Logan airport to get home. Of course, there are literally hundreds of small towns, B&B's, and things to do along the way, and if head north or west in VT (especially up towards Stowe MTN and Burlington) it is absolutely beautiful! Enjoy your trip!
