Re: Play Kitchens....

  • I think I've seen them for 2+, but we just found one cheap on Craigslist and it goes with our living room colors so we figured, why not?  She may not be interested in it right away, but that's okay.

  • If we were to get one for our LO now it would be because she would enjoy pulling up on something more her size, enjoy opening and closing things, and putting things away and pulling back out again. I like it because she would use it for a long time. I think that's why a lot of us are thinking about one.

  • All the early toddler classrooms I've worked in have had 15 month olds and play kitchen stuff. They don't get it at 12 months really but the knobs are fun, and so is taking things out and putting them in, and chewing on all the play food. We're thinking about getting one just because maybe he'll turn those kitchen play knobs instead of unscrewing the knobs on the entertainment center. haha.

  • Totally makes sense ! I was just curious if I was missing one for younger ages or something ?? I did find one from Little Tikes that starts at 15 months. It converts to a higher height as the kiddo grows.

  • My hesitation with getting a kitchen now is that it's such a fun gift, I kind of want to have it be something she'll react to more. But, I guess that's selfish. Haha.

But even more selfishly, I want one so that I can play with it.

DD got one last Christmas when she was 1.5y. She didn't really start to "get it" and treat it like a kitchen until just recently when she turned two. Also she wasn't tall enough to play with the above counter things, so I put a 3 inch board next to it, which gave her the height she needed to access the stuff. Now, at around 32-33 inches, she doesn't need the board.

DS loves it now at 11m. He spends a good 10 minutes at a time opening and closing the fucking oven door. Open close open close open close. But, hey, it entertains him.

    We have the Step2 one.
