Trouble TTC

Supporting my husband with low sperm count

My husband just got his sperm analysis results and they're not good (1 million sperm when they're should be 20 million and low motility). He's having a hard time dealing with it. Any time I try to be supportive he thinks I'm minimizing his problems. I'm having a hard time with it as well but he doesn't understand it. Has anyone been through this and have any ideas on offering support. Does anyone know what we should expect with upcoming tests or surgeries (yikes!)?

Yes, I've been living this for the past 8 months. He is in shock right now, nothing you can say or do will help. Be kind, gentle, and he will come around. Then he might get really sad, then angry, then he will want to make a plan to solve this (this was my husbands track). Just be there for him, love him, cherish him, and reassure him that you two will get through this, together. Fortunately, there is more they can do for men than women. Arm yourself with a great urologist and a close knit circle of people you can trust, cry to, and vent to. Good luck! As for treatment, they need to figure out what is causing it, hormonal, blockage or production issues. Don't read dr google and listen to your dr and your heart for what is right for you two.

  • Remind him you love him without bringing up sperm. I found telling my husband why I loved him helped assure him I didn't marry him for his sperm.
And ps, unless there are several issues with you as well, you're looking at IVF, not surrogacy.
