Is this a weird Craigslist email?

something about it just makes me feel like I'd get screwed.  And, I don't even know what it's for.... I haven't listed anything.  I did put an ad up that I was looking for something the other night, but that's it so far...
 
Hello,i saw your item for sale on craigslist. Though i should have come over and take a look but i am out
of town for my (honey moon) .So with every description you gave on the ad, i believe you. Also,its my first time transacting on craiglist,i really don't know how it works but I will be sending you payment right away with a Certified Bank check,please get back to me with the

1.Full name address
2.You final asking price
3.present condition of the item.
4.Full mailing address * not
p.o box*

  • don't do it. ?i got one like that and i knew it was fishy, but i responded with a few specific questions and they were totally sketchy in their answers.

  • That's totally a scam. I think what they do is send you the cashier's check. When you go to cash it they somehow drain your bank account. I can't quite remember exactly how it works. Just don't respond!

  • Scam. ?They made it vague so they could just send out one email to a bazillion people. ?
  • Scam.  They will end up sending you a check for MORE than the amount of purchase and will ask you to cash it and send the remainder in a money order to a third party (and will give some story of why you have to do that).

    Then, several days later, your bank will discover the check is fake and you will be responsible for reimbursing the entire amount of the check. . . and all the while, you will have sent a legitimate amount of money to someone else that you can't recover.
