Does lanolin expire?

I have a tube of lansinoh (sp?) lanolin that I used when I breastfed my son 4 years ago. No expiration date on the tube...If it doesn't, I'll use it for breastfeeding my LO #2

The tube I had from 4 years ago had an expiration date on it.  It had expired last year, I believe.  I tossed it.  It was rather hard by now, anyway.
