It is an animal of some sorts. FIL sent me a text saying G's birthday gift is here early and asked if our paddock is secure. DH won't tell me what it is. I am hoping for a cow over a pony. But I guess I will find out!

No one better bring a live animal to our child's party.  I have someone threatening to bring a puppy.  It will not be well received.

Ok so you have to explain to me...if they bring a cow, will you raise it as a pet, or raise it and then eat it.  I've always wondered about that...like can you disconnect the 2?  I know if it were socially acceptable I couldn't eat Wanda.  She's my pet.

Also, what in the hell does one do with a pony?  I would take cow over pony anyday.

I told my husband I don't want to raise to eat. My IL's and BIL have beef cattle. We don't need to. And if we did raise one I woul have my IL's do it.

Kids can ride ponies. You can show them at fairs and such. Nor much else past that.

That is so exciting! I would totally love to have a cow as a pet. I could never eat it. But it would be fun! Can't wait to hear what it is!!

I'm in Wisconsin. You'd think I would know some of these things.  Jeez.  I work in farm country.  But all of my coworkers that have farms have dairy farms or sheep farms and don't eat them, so I've never been sure.  Thanks for filling me in.  I can't wait to see pictures of G on whatever live beast they've gotten you!

I can't wait to see what G is getting.  Although I think I would want the pony over the cow. Why would you prefer a cow?

Cows are way less maintenance

That's why I want goats instead of horses out here! And goat cheese! So I guess I want milking goats!
