Re: *2nd Tri Check-In*

  • Morning gals- i'm 15 weeks today!  of course having the on again off again anxiety of whether everything is going ok in my belly.  had a regular OB appointment last week and heartbeats were good and have a MFM appt with u/s at 16 weeks next week.  After that will start seeing her every 2 weeks to monitor with u/s to see how they are growing.

    QOTW: c section all the way for me.  i've always been terrified of a vaginal birth and was the first question i asked my dr.  "so,  how about a c section?".  his response was "sounds good. we'll plan it as the time get closer".  works for me!
    Me (37) DH (39); PCOS changed to Unexplained, changed to DOR in 2012 (finally a correct diagnosis!);
    Started TTC 2009 with RE after 6 months.
    Clomid + Trigger x2;
    IUI + Femara x1,
    IUI + Follistim x2;
    IVF #1 (MDL) February 2013- BFN.
    IVF #2 (antagonist) May 2013, First BFP of my life.
    Identical twin miracle BOYS (!!) headed our way- due date is technically 2/4/14 but c section is scheduled for 1/7!

    I'm 14w5d today!  Next week I will have an update on pink/blue - I am so excited I can't wait!   I feel great most of the time - although I had a headache last night for awhile and a bit of what I think was RLP.   I did buy a bunch of really nice maternity clothes on craigslist and I am excited to sort though my closet this weekend and make room for them all!

    QOTW: IF has definitely changed my plans for delivery - I used to want a med-free vaginal birth and now I honestly am just thankful to be pregnant at all that no matter how the baby or babies in my case come out as long as they are alive and healthy I will be happy.  And considering the fact that I am having twins I am trying to prepare myself for the likely possibility of a c-section.   Although if everything goes well and they are both head down then I will push for a vaginal delivery.

  • I am currently 22w5d.  I had a MFM appointment last week.  The good news is that my cervix hadn't gotten any shorter.  The not-so-good news is that my low-lying placenta is now a placenta previa.  The babies are also showing a slight size discordance (about 12%), so they will be carefully monitoring me for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.  Their size difference isn't a cause for alarm yet (20% is usually the benchmark), but we do need to keep a close eye on it.

    QOTW:  Well, with mo-di twins and the recent placenta previa diagnosis, I'm probably looking at a c-section.  I'm really nervous about recovery from a c-section, so I'm still holding out a little hope for a vaginal delivery, but they would both need to be head down, make it to term, and my placenta previa would need to resolve for that to happen.  Pre-IVF and twin pregnancy, I'd planned and really wanted to experience a med-free birth, but that was one of my well-laid plans that has had to change. :)  Even if I can have a vaginal birth, which is looking unlikely, it will be in an operating room with an epidural in place so I wouldn't have to be completely knocked out in case of an emergency.  In the end, I just want them here safely, as I'm sure everyone does.

  • Hi everyone, I am 17 weeks today! I had an OB appointment yesterday and it was the longest wait for a check in on the LO so far (4 weeks!). The dr asked if I was feeling any movement yet and I don't think so so I was extra nervous to hear the heartbeat. I got all teary when I heard it just from relief! Starting to look much more pregnant! QOTW: I am really hoping for a vaginal birth and am open to the idea of an epidural if needed. I am terrified of a c-section because the idea of being awake in the OR sounds absolutely horrifying to me! Though I realize I will just want the baby to be out safe and sound!

  • Hey there ladies. I'm 16w1d and I feel great. Besides the heart burn and always being sleepy, I feel normal! Its kinda scary. Lol. My belly is growing by the day! I have my next appt on 8/21 and I'm praying all is still well. My bbs are changing and its crazy to see transformation. I cant wait for the nxt appt to see how much the baby has grown. Tmi warning - DH and I had sex last night and it kinda hurt a little. This am I discharged a little bit of red. Anyone go thru that as well?

    As far as labor goes, I'm just so thankful to be pregnant I'm just going with the flow.I just want my little baby.

    Gl to all
    TTC Since 112010 Naturally. Diagnose:PCOS(ME) + Low Motility(HIM). Started IVF+ICSI Cycle 12312. ER 27 & ET 210 two embies transferred. *BFN 1ST IVF CYCLE.* **Getting as healthy as possible and will try IVFICSI#2 again hopefully in April.** -- HAVE FAITH; LET GO & LET GOD --
  • I just hit 24 weeks, yay for viability week!

    DH and I are going on our babymoon to Ireland this Friday for a week, I am very excited and have been checking in with my OB for any travel tips, etc to make sure things go ok.

    QOTW: I am currently researching ways to go med free.  I really want to go med free for as long as possible - could be a few centimeters, all the way or nothing at all, but I am definitely open to an epidural if the pain becomes too much for me. My mom had short births for my older brother (6 hours) and me (2 hours) so I am really hoping I follow that trend.

  • Hi ladies! I am 15 weeks today, I can't believe how time flies! I'm generally feeling pretty good, although yestday and today I have been feeling a surge of exhaustion returning and I am no longer interested in food. I'm not nauseous really, but every smell is gross, and the thought of every food sounds gross. I hope this goes away soon, I was starting to feel better in that department! I have an OB appt next Thursday, and I should be getting a referral to MFM at that time. I was told I should start seeing MFM around 18-20 weeks. QOTW: I just want whatever is best for my babies. Part of me is terrified of vaginal birth, but I am also very nervous about recovering from a C-section. There is a good chance I will be alone for the delivery and first few weeks because my husband is scheduled to be away at training around that time. My family and friends all live across the country and since I just moved here, I don't really know anyone yet. I know they will visit as soon as they can, but since everyone works I really can't count on having help. Honestly I am so much more terrified of figuring out how to care for two babies by myself in the beginning that I haven't really given much thought to delivery preference!

  • Plugging along at 16 weeks. As I mentioned in the 2IF grad post, starting to finally get some energy back and not gagging all the time from gross smells, tooth brushing, etc. Next appointment is at the end of the month, but still won't have our a/s until 22 weeks!

    QOTW -- What are your plans for delivery -- realizing, of course, that all plans can change?  (C-section, med-free delivery, epidural with vaginal delivery, etc. . . .)
    Have you taken any classes to prepare or do you plan to?  Has IF changed any of your plans?

    Like with DD, I'm hoping to do this delivery au' natural again. No epidural for me, just had a nice narcotic to take the edge off from 7-10 cm. I think it helped me to be able to move around and change positions as needed and made for a quick delivery.

    No classes this time since we've been through them once (granted it was over 6 years ago) but we will take DD to a one-day sibling class offered through the hospital as we get closer to baby's due date.

    I'm 14 w, 4d and just chugging along. Nothing exciting to report. I wish I had some food cravings though. I can't figure out what I want to eat at mealtimes and it's kind of annoying. QOTW - I hope to have a smooth vaginal delivery and definitely want the epidural, however I am mentally preparing myself to deal with a C/S if necessary. DH keeps warning me that between the two of us, our baby will likely be huge (and his mother had to have C/S for her giant children). I would like to take the birthing classes offered by my hospital, but not sure when you are supposed to sign up for those (and the tour).

  • Hi ladies!!

    I hit 23 weeks yesterday and had our monthly OB visit. All sounded great! Feeling more and more of baby boy's kicks and loving every minute of it. I've had some cramping which OB said sounds like BH but they aren't too often or for too long so I was told just to stay hydrated and call if they become consistent. Nausea has improved although I still can't stand a lot of foods that I used to like.

    Q: I'm hoping for vaginal delivery with epidural. I had a complication from a spinal tap several years ago and remember them telling me when they patched the leak, that was fun, that I may have issues getting an epi down the line. I sure hope not! Have to call the anesthesiologist about this but waiting till I'm further along so I don't dread delivery the next several months haha
    TTC since June 2011
    DX: DH (30) severe MFI, severely low count & low motility

    Testicular Biopsy with TESE on 6/8/12. good sperm found! (left side only) froze sperm, failed thaw test :(
    Orientation for IVF/ICSI on 6/13/12. Waiting for the green light following biopsy results...results show adequate sperm production both sides.
    2nd SA 6/18/12: sample is "adequate for ICSI"
    Plan: IVF/ICSI July 2012!
    ER: 7/26/12. 15 eggs retrieved, all mature.
    TESE/TESA/aspiration from epididymis, no motile sperm found :(
    froze all eggs, the saga of praying for good sperm continues.
    8/3/12: 2nd opinion from MFI uro on biopsy slides. Suspects "partial late maturation arrest."
    Plan: more SAs, third biopsy/TESE with frozen back-up either from DH or DS.
    SA 8/17/12: Zero sperm
    SA 8/23/12: Zero sperm
    9/26/12: SPERM FOUND! 15 eggs thawed, 12 survived and were ICSI'd, only 3 fertilized normally. Refrozen as embies and will thaw in Nov. Please survive and grow!
