I know they recommend 24-36 diapers for newborn phase. I bought all my diapers from a lady who closed her online shop and got the diapers brand new for $5 each. I have 29 OS pocket Rumparooz. Team pink and 5 of them are very boyish with firetrucks on them, so I want to use those as back up. I have 6 newborn snap ez pocket diapers (4-12 lbs), and 6 medium snap ez (don't know what weight those are for). Half of  the Rumparooz have their original micro-fibre insert and the other half didn't so I grabbed enough rumparooz bamboo inserts small and large size for the rest of the diapers. My questions:

Is this enough? Should I get more diapers?

Apparently Rumparooz fit from 6lbs to 35 lbs. Should I assume I can use these from day 1? Or should I get more newborn diapers?

Can I use the bamboo inserts all the time? Daytime etc? Or should I get more micro-fibre? 

Once my bamboo inserts are prepped can I wash them with my diapers.

I appreciate any advice!

Wow, it sounds to me like you're probably set on the OS diapers!  With the mediums, too... you should have more than enough if you're washing every 2 days. There's a chance the Rumparooz might not be a good fit for your baby, though... and that matters more than weight.  Hopefully they fit great!  My DD is SUPER long and lean, so about half of the brands we tried didn't get tight enough around her tiny thighs to get a good seal, I had to sell them and buy others.  

I would be really surprised if the Rumparooz fit LO from day 1.  Personally I would invest in some more newborn diapers, or just have a pack of disposables as backup.  GL!!

Of all the OS diapers out there, RaR are more likely to fit a newborn. They get really tiny on that smallest snap setting - smaller than a BG 4.0. Hopefully they will work for you right away. You can use bamboo inserts whenever you want. You'll probably find that you prefer them to the MF anyway - they will definitely make the diapers less bulky on a newborn.

I might get a dozen newborn prefolds and 4 covers to have just in case, though. That way if only those and the newborn pockets fit you'll have enough to wash every day until the RaRs fit (which should be relatively early). And if everything fits all at once, all the better. We went through 15 diapers per day for the first 3 months so I would have loved to have enough diapers to not absolutely have to do laundry every other day.

And on a lighter note, don't count on the firetruck diapers to be solely backups just because you have a girl. If I had 5 firetruck RaRs I'm pretty sure DD would insist on wearing them all.the.time. : )

I could be totally wrong, I have a feeling we'll have a petite baby. My husband and I are both small framed people. I really hope the RaRs fit right away. They do have a double gusset which I really like and haven't found in any other diapers.

I was considering getting some prefolds! I like the idea of them, so I should just get newborn ones to cover me in the beginning? So a dozen prefolds and four covers should be enough in combo with the 6 snap ez newborn ones? How often do you wash the covers?

My DD was pretty average sized when she was born (about 7 1/2 lbs.). Our RaRs fit first out of all the OS's that we have, but I think they'd be pretty bulky on a newborn. As for the bamboo inserts, I prefer them over mf because they're trimmer, and once they're prepped you can wash them with everything else. If you want to get prefolds for the newborn stage, I would suggest getting 2 dozen prefolds in addition to the newborn pockets you have, just so you have some clean extras for when you're doing laundry.

I had an average baby, 7-11, and RaRz pockets fit by a month. Sooner than many OS, but not right away because of the width causing leg leaks. I would get 2 dozen newborn prefolds and a few nb covers to use at the beginning. RaRz nb covers are really great.

The RaRs fit sooner but not right away, I know everyone baby is different but just curious how long after delivery did they fit?

Do you guys use the snappys with the prefolds?

I could fit the RaRz on her once the cord completely healed, but had some leg leaks until about 4 weeks. I snappied prefolds to keep poop off the cover (so I could reuse it). I only had 2 covers because I had AIOs too. If you have more covers you could just fold and then fasten the cover.
