An acquaintance on Facebook just posted pictures of her giving her 2-month-old granddaughter chocolate ice cream!! The baby's mom is 15-years-old and I think this woman does most of the caring for the baby. I want to say something to her!!

ETA: Okay, I had to say something. Hopefully I didn't just start Facebook WWIII!

Re: Are people really this dumb?

  • Was it a joke? How do you know she was actually feeding it to the baby?

  • The baby had chocolate ice cream all over her mouth and dripping out of it!
  • some people are so dumb!! That baby is gonna have a stomach ache, and probably the shits really bad. I'd def. say something- and if it was me....I wouldn't be too nice about it. Gah- I can't deal with idiots. Glad it's not on my FB. Shit like that makes my blood boil!

  • Ugh. My Aunts niece posted a picture of her feeding her 3 month old baby food and cows milk. She said he spits up really bad with formula and tried to switch to something else, but it didn't seem to help. Her mom said she fed her cows milk early, so it must be ok. *facepalm*. One of her friends tried, very gently, to tell her she really shouldn't and should really really talk to her pedi because the baby can't handle cows milk yet. And, if the spitting up was that bad, maybe there is a bigger problem that the pedi can diagnose, that the cows milk could make worse. But, she said he is doing fine so she isn't worried. I just can't even.
  • I would have said something. How stupid can someone be.

  • It's scary isn't it how some people won't take the time to research what is safe and what isn't for their babies, families, pets or themselves and the babies in these cases are the ones who suffer from their parent's ignorance.  Such a shame!

  • A friend of ours told us their daughter loves mac & cheese so much that she ate 4 boxes in a row one time (this is when the girl was 2 yrs old). I was appalled.
  • I was at a water park with a mutual friends and there were three infant-baby's 2 month old (mine)! 4 month old and a 6 month old! The 6 month old was in the water for a long period of time! This park was not as clean as one would think! The mother thought that it was cute as he baby drank the water! Not small amounts either! I explained the chemicals placed in the water and the reasons the park closed off the water every once in a while! Her response "he's just thirsty, plus I'm BF so he's healthy!"

  • DH's cousin posted I a pic a while ago of her 6 month old in a forward facing car seat. SIL gently told her that kids that young really shouldn't be forward facing, cousin proceeded to tell us that "her pedi told her that this is actually better for HER kids" vand that she turned her 3 year old around the same time. I then told her she should probably find a new doctor and start using some common sense since not only are the laws in Canada pretty clear on this, but any doctor who told me to go against the law and what all studies show is best for my child rally shouldn't be treating children.
