DS is 16 months old; we're heading to the beach next week with my parents for a whole week! So what are your beach must-haves? We went last year too, but he was only 5 months old, so his needs were waaaay different. I already have packed some of his toys so he has time to miss them (lol), we have sand toys, a little tent for the beach, his travel high chair, and basic toiletries, but anything else???
Oooooh the wagon! Good idea! We're only staying about a block from the beach, but that's a long block to haul everything, especially is DS wants to be carried.
Well the tent is just for him to play/lay down in (haha), we'll rent a giant beach umbrella for the week which is awesome cuz they put it up and take it down and you don't have to do anything! I was thinking about getting him one of those kid-sized beach chairs too, think they're worth it? They're just so cute and I know he would like being able to get on and off by himself.
I guess I am an underachiever. We are going to the beach next weekend and due to flying she is getting a swim suit (UV shirt/shorts), small towel, bucket, and shovel. Lol. Honestly I don't bring much more than that for an afternoon at the lake here, but maybe I'll regret it. There is no way I can bring an umbrella or something like a tent in my carry on baggage, but if we were driving I might give it a go if you're staying a week or something.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
We used the baby powder trick this weekend at the beach, and it worked like a charm! We have used a small baby pool too, to fill up with water, and let DD play in that. It is exhausting though! We only spent 2-3 hours at the beach each day because she missed her naps and went crazy. Good luck.

I've heard powder is good for getting sand off. Don't forget extra swim diapers. A wagon could be helpful for hauling everything. Seems like you have a pretty good list.

We use cornstarch instead of baby powder. It's cheaper and you don't have to worry about the inhalant risks of baby powder.
extra swimmy diapers- in case of a poop easy snacks- cherrios, goldfish, pb&j water! hydrate! toys for when you aren't in the water. toys for when you are in the water. DD eats sand so we don't do shovels and buckets yet- but if DS can not eat sand- let him dig! hat/sunglasses wipes- diaper and antibacterial
Everything that the PP have listed is what we bring too. When I take the towels tho I usually have one just for DS, but also a very large one (more like a bath sheet than a towel) so that I can wrap both him and I up in it. He seems to like that. Perhaps invest in a nice sit in floaty too. We have gone through several until we finally found one that DS liked. Have fun!!! And don't forget the camera!!!
