Trouble TTC

Natural Remedies

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone with endometriosis has tried any natural remedies to help with fertility. I was diagnosed about a year ago via lap. After the sx my husband and I TTC naturally for 6 mths with no luck. After a failed IUI, I've been having Lupron injections. I have 2 more left, and starting to get anxious. Any suggestions?

Re: Natural Remedies

  • Just FYI, you might not get a huge response in the 'natural remedies' category on this board. Although there are some of us who are big into alternative medicine, it's not usually wholeheartedly endorsed by all (and that's ok - to each her own). I don't have endo (that I know of - no symptoms, no testing) and we are unexplained, but I have definitely gone through the gambit of natural strategies. Personally, I really like acupuncture and reflexology - both of which are good for stress & anxiety as well as there being anecdotal evidence of improved fertility. I pay totally OOP, and it's worth every penny for me. I've also gone through a Naturopathic Physician as well as a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine - both I found very helpful. If you're interested in that, I would seek out someone specifically with experience in IF. HOWEVER, you need to be sure not to jump on the supplement bandwagon without the explicit approval of your RE, since you're on other meds. That's just my 2 cents!

    • Three rounds of clomid (50mg days 3-7) were useless.
    • IUI#1 w/clomid & HCG in May 2013, BFN.
    • IUI#2 w/clomid & HCG on July 23rd. BFN.
    • IUI #3 in August cancelled last minute, due to lab error.
    • IVF#1 - Started Gonal F stims October 13 2013 for IUI. Over-responded with too many follicles, so converted to IVF. Retrieval October 29th - got 5 eggs, 4 fertilized. Had 2 perfect little embryos transferred on day 3 (Nov. 1). The remaining 2 didn't survive to freeze. Got our BFN on November 13th 2013.
    • IVF#2 - Started stims August 21st. Triggered with Suprefact, started on dostinex due to risk of OHSS. Retrieval September 5th - got 27 eggs! 21 embryos on day 3. Embryos deteriorated quickly. ESet 5day blast on Sept 10. No embryos high enough quality to freeze. BFN came Sept. 22.

Reserved a semi-known proven donor in August .

Waiting for consult/screening and protocols with estimated fresh cycle timing in October

  • I researched some diet changes that claim to slow down the endo regrowth. The main one I've found is gluten free. Some say dairy and caffeine also encourage regrowth. In the research that I've done, nothing is proven to get rid of it. Some people swear by changing the diet and swear that they are cured or without symptoms.

  • Wow, this is interesting! I live in a small town so we don't really have specialist in natural med. I have looked up acupuncture before, maybe I'll look into this some more. I am a sucker for coffee, so maybe I should go decaf. Thanks for the pointers :)
