Post partum bleeding

I am almost 6 weeks post partum and yesterday I started to bleed bright red again. I never stopped bleeding but it was basically just spotting. I remember with DS1 I bled for 8 weeks but I forgot if the bleeding picked up like this towards the end. I called my ob today and she said that sometimes you can get your period around now or your bleeding can randomly pick up for a few days. I am exclusively pumping 8 times daily. Did anybody experience anything similar?

I'm still barely spotting at almost 7wks pp, but will have occassional "gushes" of red bleeding. It usually happens after one of my longer pumping sessions so my guess is the nipple stimulation is triggering my uterus to contract and perhaps push out any blood that is left.  I stopped bleeding 5wks pp with DD and it's bumming me out that it's taking so much longer this time around.  But I also had a tubal so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it either.  Hoping it's done soon!
