Organizing baby closet:

By size or by items (ie footed pajamas, pants, onesies)? Different brands have massive size variation, but it seems so much easier to have everything he currently fits into in one place...What do you guys prefer for LO?

Re: Organizing baby closet:

  • So far.. I've got everything organized by size. I've only got a few things that my mom and MIL have bought since I haven't had any showers. Eventually I will probably re-organize after he gets here in a way that works best for me. I'm thinking onsies and footed pj's in a drawer under the changing table and then clothes in the closet organized by size. I'll probably put the bigger stuff in tubs until he can wear them.

So far I've put everything bigger than 12 in clear labeled tubs, mostly because of limited space. Nursery closet has built in drawers and shelves (thankfully) so all my little pants, socks ect are in those. I organized everything by size yesterday but it looks messy to me. But I'm one of those people who has my own closet roy-g-biv'ed. I definitely want it organized in the most convenient way, not just aesthetically pleasing.
  • Everything organized by size until I figure out what fits him.. I only have up to size 6 months on hangers, everything else is in tubs at the bottom of the closet. I have a little basket for socks, mittens, and hats

  • This is how I have/had things organized

    In the dresser
draw 1- sleepers semi folded in half, socks, and hats
draw 2- onesies folded in 3 (like a paper when you put it in an envelope), pants, sweaters
    Other draws- next size up

    In the closet
    jackets
    dressy clothes

Also have a tupperware box to throw clothes in that become to small.

  • I did by size and then just move things around if they are too big or small
