Stay at Home Moms

If you could spend a month anywhere during the summer, where would it be?

We live in AZ where it is way too hot during the summer to do anything.  And DH works from home, so he can pretty much from anywhere we have internet.  We are starting to play with the idea of renting a house for a month somewhere else.  We were thinking maybe Hawaii, or somewhere in the Northwest (where it would be cooler).  So if you could stay anywhere for a month where would you stay and why?

  • Europe - Italy, Greece, Switzerland...I am not really picky.  : )  I love Europe (the history, the culture, the lifestyle) and am dying to go back.

DS will be 4 and DD will be 2 so DH says not overseas trips until they are both at least four :(  But I too am dying to go anywhere overseas!
  • Lots of places!  We love Maine but that's very close so it seems like I should pick something more exotic.  Maybe somewhere out west- Oregon or Washington.  We are big campers and would love to see some of the mountains out there.

And yes, I did just say that Oregon or Washington were more "exotic" LOL!  What is wrong with me.

  • I would go back to the part of Germany we were stationed at.  There is SOOOOO much for us to do there, that my day trips would be glorious.  We were no more than 2 hours tops from France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Holland (well maybe 2.5 hours).

    I want to go home.

  • If DH could work from home, I'd love to spend a month on Nantucket. If we didn't have to work or worry about money, Italy without a doubt!

This would almost inspire to stop having children.  :(
We are hoping to do a Europe trip in the next few years.  I told DH if he changes jobs he has to do it in the summer and we will use his leftover vacation time and then put a little delay on starting the new job and go to Europe for a month.  It would be heavenly.
I also am semi-serious when I tell him I want to take the kids to Mexico or Spain for a month and take Spanish classes with them.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

i feel the same way. when it's either hot & humid or it's raining, and we're forced to stay indoors, that's when i have lack of sunshine. we're outside all "winter"!

I am like this too.  Well not Antarctica, but my idea of paradise is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and not a beach.  I think I am also happier in the fall / winter.

Well, I know I will contradict myself, but if I could go anywhere I think maybe Disneyworld.  Yes, I realize this makes me sound very lame and cheesy, but we just love it there.  However, I would like to spend a month there when it is cooler and not in the middle of summer.  If we were to spend a month somewhere in the summer, I would choose Alaska for Europe.

My husband and I were on a Rick Steve's Europe kick for a while and would give anything to go to Germany, Austria or Norway.

    Switzerland.

My old boss just moved from Switzerland to Belgium but man did it look amazing in pics all seasons.

Dh almost got to go to Geneva for 3 months for work this fall. I'm so bummed it didn't work out, it could have been a lot of fun.
I spent a month two summers as a teenager in a small town on the Lake of Thun. It was spectacular. The natural beauty, plus all the castles...perfect.

Fantasy - Bora Bora in the little huts on top of the water. Or Greece.

    More realistic - Colorado mountains

  • Cape Cod. We usually spend a week there each summer at H's cousin's beach house. We skipped this year because of Mila being so young, but man, I miss it. Beach weather during the day and cool enough for a sweater at night. Perfection.

  • montana...western part.  Like Kalispell.  Near the entrance of Glacier NP where we could easily do day trips up to Lake MacDonald.

We spent a week outside of Colorado Springs this summer and loved it, which gave us the idea of spending a month somewhere other than AZ.

No! we're dying over here, it's 100° or more and so freaking humid!! Come in the spring or fall
Anyhow, I hate hot weather so I'd go to any scandinavian country, probably Denmark

  • In my dreams it would be Europe with the house in Italy and take short trips to visit other European cities. In reality I would love to be near the ocean so I would pick somewhere on the west coast because I live on the east coast and it would be a nice change.
  • I would visit my sister in Rome Italy. Actually, I am not picky, I would stay anywhere in Europe, Hawaii or the Pacific Islands (Tahiti, Fiji, etc.), Alaska might be fun for a summer month, Australia, Thialand......This list could get very long. I love to travel.
