3rd Trimester

Maybe tmi. Poop.

I went into PTL at 24wks. I've been on bed rest since. Today I am at our family beach house, approved bt my ob as its my bday and my FFN came back negative almost 2wks ago. My next one is on Wednesday. I had a green juice this AM and have now pooped 4 times today. None are really diarrhea but are loose and I've had a little cramping as I go. My sister was telling me on Friday how she pooped a lot before going into labor so now I'm obviously a little nervous that maybe I'm going back into PTL soon? I had some bad contractions last night but they went away on their own. Just a few non painful ones today. Baby is active. Just want to get some thoughts as its Sunday, I'm 2hrs away from my hospital and it's my bday so I'd rather not assume and go to l&d or call in if not necessary. Did this happen to anyone else before going into laboror should I chalk this up to a green juice cleaning?.

  • I have a hard time believing that a reputable doctor would approve a break from bed rest on account of your birthday. Your birthday is not that important in the grand scheme of things, and complications don't magically stop or hold off just because it's a special day. Call your doctor and see what they say. Nobody here is a doctor. You've got to be proactive about the health of you and your little one, birthday or not. I know it sucks, but being a mom means lots of sacrifices. I've had green smoothie drinks during my pregnancy and it hasn't given me the poops. I also have not had at PTL, but if I did I would definitely err on the side of caution and at least call.

  • So you were on full bed rest and your doctor just approved you to go on vacation because of your birthday? That doesn't even make sense. It doesn't matter if it's your birthday or not, you need to be concerned about your health because it directly affects your LO.

One of the things most OB's say regarding cramping, contractions, and diarrhea together is that you should call, especially if you've been on bed rest and at risk for PTL. I still can't believe that you'd be on bed rest and then just go on a two hour road trip, that could be part of the reason you're bowels have changed. Going from not getting around to just doing that.

Regardless, you need to call your OB. PTL isn't something to stop caring about because it's your birthday, don't be selfish, do what is best for you LO.

  • I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that was thinking.. so, you're on bed rest? But on vacation for your birthday?

    Call your doc for sure.
