I delivered both my kids at St. Luke's The Woodlands hospital. It was overall a good experience. Everything is done in the same room for labor and delivery. The nurses are all very encouraging and helpful. There is also a lactation consultant available if needed. After you've delivered, you do get switched to another room on the unit to recover so that the L+D room that you were in is available to the next person ready to deliver. The nurses are pretty strict about not carrying the baby when you walk around the unit. Baby has to be pushed in the bassinet. They do have nursing students rotate through as well. If necessary, the rooms for C-section are in the center of the horseshoe shaped unit.
I'm having mine at Memorial Herman The Woodlands since that's where my Dr. Delivers but I've also heard good things about St. Luke's. See if you can get a tour..not sure how far along you are but they may not do it if you haven't registered through them yet but just ask.
Had a great experience with my first delivery there last November. My nurse was first class fabulous!! I had an unplanned csection but the staff was great and special kudos to the annesthesiologist. Good food too!
Re: St. Luke's in The Woodlands??
I delivered there in 2008, and will go back in 2014. I LOVE love LOVE the staff, the hospital and my OB Patricia Laden.
