Hello all you Houston mommas! Has anyone had any luck finding a durable medical equipment (DME) provider in the Houston area that sells breast pumps? I have BCBS of TX insurance and have to get one from an in-network DME supplier in order for it to qualify for coverage. Any and all guidance is appreciated!
Hey, I have BCBS TX too and I asked them for a list of DMEs because I was having the same issue. The ones they gave me weren't local, but you can order and they ship it to you, all covered by insurance. FYI, I emailed the Byram one and they said they offer the Ameda Purely Yours, the Medela Advanced and a PJ's Bliss pump. They won't start processing your order until 30 days before your due date.
I used Sterling Medical Equipment, but you can go onto the BCBS website and look up durable medical equipment providers.
Go to BCBSTX.com. Select the 'Find a Doctor', Select your network, under Provider Type - Speciality select 'Durable Medical Equipment' and then your zipcode. The only ones I could find that offered breast pumps were Mail Order only & the one I got was an Ameda Double Electric pump. I'm not due until October but I ordered mine very early and got it within a week. BCBS originally only paid for manual pumps but as of June, I think, they started offering electric pumps as well through in-network providers.
Hope this helps!
