Not entirely sure how to describe them, they grow wild here in Missouri. They are very tiny, sour, and the bushes are thorny. So it boils down to it hurts like a mofo to pick enough to amount to anything and then you might as well be eating straight sugar to get the bitterness out. Dh btw loves gooseberry pie, kinda looks like peas hehe.

Holy balls they are sour! I don't think many people actually eat them. They always have them at the Farmers Market. DH tried one a few weeks ago and his face was priceless. They are like a crazy sour version of an unripe grape.

I love blackberries & am surrounded by them growing wild. Too bad I can't pick them myself. The last time I did I got attacked by chiggers so bad I looked like one big chigger bite from my boobs down. I was so miserable I had to call into work, take Benadryl, soak in aveeno oatmeal baths twice a day, & cover myself with campho phenique & preparation H (It helps with swelling & itching. It didn't know that my chiggers weren't hemorrhoids)

It is a hard pick for me, it swings back and forth between raspberry and blackberry.

This is so awful EK! Oh no. It would be like slow torture not being able to go pick those tasty little morsels! [-( Not good at all.

I have tons of wild blackberries in my yard, and DH and I picked them over the weekend, got all scratched up, and then it turned out they were kind of sour. But when they're good, they're worth it! Maybe not worth what happened to you...

Ditto. I love them all (with the exception of Gooseberries) so it is really a poll of which sounds best in this moment! I love me some Razzleberry pie though! So good.

SS - Saskatoon berries! I think they're more a western Canadian thing, kind of like a blueberry but smaller and with a more subtle 'wild' taste, and I love them! I went and picked two buckets full the other day (they grow on big bushes on the sides of roads), and yesterday I made two cookie sheet pies with them, so yummy. (mom and I no longer make small round pies anymore, too finicky and they don't go far with our families, so now we make them BIG!).

I love berries! We planted blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries this year. Yum! And because our plants are small I've been stalking the pick your own farms for a berry picking extravaganza

We had a mulberry tree growing up and I loved being able to go out to the tree, pick them, and eat them instantly. They stained like crazy though so if you walked under the tree barefoot, your feet were stained purple for a day or so!
