How do you wash your unpaper towels?

I'm being a PW tonight! I'm the proud owner of a shiny new set of unpaper towels, and was wondering how others handle their laundry.

  • Usually with other towels, but sometimes with diapers after they've gone through a rinse.

This. I have a basket that sits on top of my dryer for all of my kitchen laundry, and it all gets washed together once or twice a week. Bibs are included too.

  • I put gross ones in a bucket and wash with whites and use bleach. Which is less environmentally friendly but I also don't want to introduce botulism or whatever into my life! I put other ones in with whatever laundry.

  • They get pretty gross - we wash them separately on the sanitize setting, which is extra hot - too hot for the diaper covers.

  • I always wondered....what exactly is the difference between an unpaper towel and, you know, a kitchen rag?  I would think it would end up just going in with the rest of the towels?
  • I try to rinse the kitchen cloth first and then wash with all towels including bath towels and such.

  • They are napkins.

  • I would wash mine with towels.

I know we've talked about this before, but is there any pro to getting the cute Etsy towels versus just bar cloths/rags from Sams?

Mine are thinner and don't get bogged down with water as much, which I like. I made them out of flannel and birdseye. There are some that are flannel and terry, and I don't see how those are much different than any other kitchen cloth or towel. The size is different too - my unpaper towels are 12"x12", which seems just about right for cleaning up little messes, as opposed to a too-small cloth or too-big dish towel.
