Kicking the caffeine habit

How have you all kicked the caffeine habit? I always drank one cup of coffee per day and I am really trying not to now that I am 5wks. I don't want to develop an irritable baby and pass on the caffeine addiction. This is not easy to do because I can't seem to sleep well lately!

I've read many places that one cup a day is perfectly fine, so I still drink one cup a day (rather than my usual 3). I understand cutting it out completely though. I've also been drinking some decaf because I like the flavor of coffee!

Tough one.  I'm switching to drinking hot tea right now - trying to trick my body.  It's really difficult  - especially with being even more tired.  Good luck - this isn't easy!

I've been doing half caf coffee one cup only, and it's been working well. I'm hoping to eventually switch to fully decaf in the next week or so.

I used to only drink one cup a day and decided to quit cold turkey last week. I got headaches for the first 4 days but now they are gone and I feel fine without it. Good luck! But like others have said, you should still be fine drinking your 1 cup a day

For my last pregnancy, I kept drinking my one cup a day.  Then, when I started breast feeding, I didn't want to risk having an amped baby so I quit cold turkey.  I didn't really miss it honestly.  I just drank hot herbal tea instead.

I still drink two cups per day, and will continue to. I did with my other two also and trust me neither one was born with a caffeine addiction.

Exercise!  First thing in the morning (if you can).  I get up at 5:10am and hit the gym while DH & DS are both still fast asleep.  I get my workout out of the way for the day & it also wakes me up too!  Then later on in the middle of the day or afternoon when I'm tired I can have my 1 cup of coffee to get me through the rest of the day.  Obviously, working out that early is too early for most ppl but you get my point :)

When pregnant I switch to 1/2 caff so I can have 2 cups and then a dt coke in the afternoon.  My dr is totally fine with it. :)

I switched to half caff & am limiting myself to 1 cup a day, but I am not cutting it out completely (unless I develop an aversion to it again).

I think with me I'm planning on doing one cup of soda a day, which is what I usually do even if I wasn't pregnant!

Prior to pregnancy, I drank anywhere from 4-6 cups of coffee a day.  Supremely unhealthy, I realize...

I dropped down to 1 cup of half-caff in the morning, and 1 cup decaf in the afternoon as soon as I found out I was pregnant last week.  The headaches were absolutely unreal, but I survived somehow.  I don't see my morning half-caff going away any time soon though.

I have always had 1-2 cups of coffee a day during pregnancy (except during 1st tri nausea when I can't stomach it).  I've actually heard a lot of people who don't have caffeine while pregnant have a hard time having any if they nurse because the baby can't tolerate it.

I have been having 1 cup since I found out, mainly because I am teaching summer school and I have to get up at 5 AM.  When I go back to my regular schedule in a few weeks, I will see how it goes.

DH is paramedic and he said the process they use to decaffeinate coffee is similar to the chemicals used in dry cleaning, so he is very opposed to decaf unless it is done through the water process.

I will have my 1-2 cups daily beginning 2nd Tri... As far as nursing goes, I've been nursing for 17 mo and haven't given a ton of thought to restricting caffeine and my daughter has never been irritable or otherwise affected by it.

I drank 1-2 cups a day all throughout my pregnancy with DD and through breastfeeding her for 7 months. She is a perfectly fine baby who has STTN since 2.5 months! My doctor told me 200 mg or less is perfectly acceptable!

I have automatically dropped my third morning cup. I used to have three in the morning and a latte (keurig) in the afternoon when the kids laid down. Now I have two cups, usually only finish half of the second, and maybe a green tea in the afternoon.
