I love scary movies, but unfortunately, I haven't seen a good one in a while. Insidious scared me, but everything I have seen since then is laugh-worthy.
So, give me some suggestions. What's the scariest movie you've seen?
I haven't seen a scary movie since The Ring, Signs time frame. Signs gave me nightmares. I can do blood and gore, I can't handle the psychological thrillers.
I'm no help. I'm a big baby when it comes to scary things. Any movie that deals with demons or evil spirits will have me freaked out for days. I've been petrified of them since I was little and my older sister and cousins thought it'd be fun to tell me the room I was sleeping in was haunted. One of them hid in the closet, and anther one sat outside the window with sunglasses that made it look like there were red eyes staring at me. They waited til I was about to fall asleep to prank me GOOD. Granted they ended up pranced because I thought my grandma was going to hurt them hahaha.. Eta- spelling is rough.
I'm a total wimp about scary movies. I cried my eyes out in the theatre and all the way home from watching Paranormal Activity 2. Poor DH had to comfort me all night.
I won't lie, Silent Hill scared the bejesus outta me. I played the original game when it had come out so it was neat to see how they brought all the creepy things to life.

That was a really good one! I own it on DVD. I might pull that out tonight.
Sinister, insidious and Paranormal activity 3 have been the only ones that scared me in the last couple years. Even though I did watch Rosemary's Baby when I first got pregnant. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!
I can't do scary movies either. DH forced me to watch two when we were dating and I can't recall which ones, but I don't like them. Instead of comforting me or cuddling during the scary parts he will make it worse by sneaking up on me or something. @KatieS7, I am the same way when commercials come on. I can't watch them.

Oooh I forgot about Sinister! I saw that earlier this year. Great movie!
I love scary movies, but I haven't been allowed to watch them this whole pregnancy (another chinese superstition). I'm actually ok with it though, for some reason my tolerance for the movies are really low now, and I get scared at the commercials too!
I love scary movies! I do have to say that The Exercisom of Emily Rose is probably my favorite!
Hmm I saw it when it came out, but I barely remember it. I need to rewatch it, but it must not have been too scary for me since I don't even remember the story line (other than a girl was possessed lol).

I think was scares me the most about it is the fact it was all based on a true story. Google anneliese michel, the real Emily Rose! Makes it much scarier.
I love scary movies, the collection and the collector are two of my all time favorites!

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.'
I liked Sinister. For some reason, the original Evil Dead still gives me nightmares. I watched the Conjuring in theaters yesterday. If you go into it knowing that it really is based on a story the family swears is true, it's pretty scary.
I loved The Conjuring! And I definitely believe it was based off a true story.. The same woman who investigated the Amityville Horror and Poltergeist case was the one who investigated The Conjuring case as well.
OK I looked up Anneliese Michel. Definitely rewatching the movie now!!!!!!!!
Oh my god... I just googled that name and am now even more scarred. I didn't know Emily Rose was supposed to be based of a true story... There goes my sleep for tonight! That picture of the real girl will be stuck in my brain all day!

I've never seen the Evil Dead movies. My SO recommended those yesterday. He's going to get one for me soon.
I am looking forward to seeing The Conjuring, but we are waiting until it comes out on DVD. Movie ticket prices are outrageous!!
I can do some scary movies but I haven't been able to watch any since getting pregnant. Orphan scared the hell out of me the first couple times I saw it. And then any of the exorcism related movies scare me to no end.
I am obsessed with scary movies! I have seen them all, even the really bad B horror movies. My all time favorite is the original Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis. Halloween 2 is also super scary. I like the remakes Rob Zombie did of Halloween 1 and 2 but the originals are better. I liked Insidious and Sinister and I just saw The Conjouring and thought that was decently scary. There is something about older horror movies though that make them scarier to me. It's less about the gore and theatrics and more about the creepy music and camera angles and the things you don't see.
28 Days Later caused me to climb into my parent's bed with them... between semesters of my freshman year of college. It gave me panic attacks for months but now, years later, I LOVE IT.
The Ring made me cry and not sleep for days.
My husband and I tried to watch A Haunting In Connecticut about a year ago and we had to turn it off about 45 minutes in because we couldn't handle it. We haven't made a second attempt yet.

I totally agree about the old movies being the scariest! Halloween to me is one of the scariest movies, I get freaked out whenever I see the Michael Meyers mask.. Really any masked monster scares me! Not so much the gory looking ones but the creepy ones! (Like in scream)
We are such scry movie snobs. I loved Insidious until the end then they lost me, like all other scary movies. Paranormal activity 1 is by far the best. Exorcism of Emily Rose terrified me because I'm not one to screw around with that stuff, I almost walked out of the theater multiple times. Since then, nothing really scares me. We're the same way with haunted houses, we spend a small fortune and travel all over for good haunted houses and haven't had many lately that really impressed us.
The Exorcist and the Ring were the scariest that come to mind.
Fwiw, if you want an awesomely bad horror movie, try Teeth. It's about a woman whose vajayjay has teeth and eats men.
I like your taste in movies!
Definitely loved The Exorcist (the book is even scarier!). Sinister frequently gives me nightmares.
Funny story. LOVED The Grudge. The scene in the original when the wig is lurking around on the floor (then Kayako pops up underneath it and kills the chick) was really funny to me. Fast forward to a week or two ago. Its the middle of the night and I'm going pee. Now, I don't even turn the light on anymore when I go because it wakes me up.
Well, I look out into the hallway from the bathroom and see this little black thing meandering around the hallway, then it turns and starts heading for me! My groggy brain instantly begins screaming, "OH God, Kayako is gonna get me! SHIIIIIIIIIIT!" The black thing eventually comes into the bathroom, meows and rubs against my leg. F!cking cat scared the piss out of me!
The new movie The Conjuring was really good if you like scary.

The scariest movie I have seen is the Suicide Club. It is a japanese horror film, so it is subtitled. But if you love scary it is definitely one to see.
