Transition to nursery

Our LO is 8 weeks and I want to transition him to sleeping to in the nursery. Right now he sleeps in the newborn napper part of his pack n play, which snuggles around him and does not allow him space to roll over. I am concerned it will be a big adjustment to anything else that doesn't snuggle him in so much, but this was the only was we could get him to sleep at first. What do you recommend? Transition to bassinet part of pack n play? If so, in our room or the nursery at first? Go straight for the crib?

FYI, we want to transition bc he is getting big for the napper bc I go back to work in two weeks and I think we will all sleep better. I wake up from a lot of his noises he makes while he sleeps and I think we sometimes disturb him while we move around our room.TIA!

I would first transition him to the bassinet part so he gets used to sleeping without the napper.  I would also add a nap during the day in his crib.  This way he gets used to sleeping there as well before you transition to night time sleep.  We did this with E and it worked great!

You might also find that swaddling him helps. That will give him the snuggled feeling.

I always swaddled DS1 and laid him on his side in a crib wedge in his PNP bassinet. So, when we moved him to his crib at nine weeks, I did the same. I also let him nap in his crib from day one. I couldn't sleep just from all the noises he made at night. He's still a loud sleeper at 4, and he can't stand sleeping with anyone. He wants his bed all to himself!

I would swaddle and start with naps. It's better to do it sooner than later

Thanks, all! We have been swaddling, but he has started to break out of the swaddle, so I may go back to a blanket with Velcro (Ie sleep sack, etc.) I will definitely try the cribs for naps, though we have had a really tough time with naps lately. Sometimes he sleeps for 15 minutes after I lay him down and sometimes he sleeps for 3 hours--and we are frustrated we cannot figure out why. It seems to be either a really short nap or a long one. The only consistent way he naps is on us, but we obviously don't want to make that a habit. Any ideas on that so that we can make the crib naps more successful for the transition? Thanks, again!

Also, a quick question, is the PNP basinet the full PNP may just raised up? Thanks!

I put a heating pad in the bed and turned it on 5 min before bed. Then when I went to put him in I took it out and laid him on the warm spot. That way he went from

our LO went through the "I want to sleep on you" phase.  What we did was 1. lay him down even if it was for 5 minutes or less.  He would wake up then fall back to seep on us so we repeated the process.  It took a little while but we made it through.  2. we figured out he much rather sleep on his tummy, so during the day he napped on his tummy.
