It was the sex.

No.. it didn't make me go into labor. It just made me think I was and sent me into L&D for 3 hours last night!

So yesterday afternoon, we figured this could be the last time in awhile that we get to DTD, so we did. About two hours later, I started having contractions. To make a long story short, they were coming 3-5 minutes apart and didn't stop no matter what I was doing. I really questioned whether we should go into the hospital or not, but since my first labor went so FAST, I was scared not to! They kept me and monitored for almost 3 hours. I was having contractions fast and furiously, but they weren't lasting very long, and my cervix was closed. Finally, they started to let up and by the time I left, I hadn't had one in 15 minutes.

I am so annoyed with myself. This false labor shiz is super annoying. With my first, I had a contraction and that was the day I went into labor. With this one, I've been having contractions for days and it's messing with my head!!

Re: It was the sex.

  • Same thing happened to me last night (well not the sex part!).  For about two hours from 12-2am I was super crampy but nothing timeable.  Ended up going away on its own but for a while I wasn't sure if they were getting better or worse!  I guess our babies want to cook a little longer....

  • Aah! false alarm! That's no fun.
I get nervous when I start having contractions close together because we live far from the hospital, but I also don't want to continue to have DF drive to the hospital 1600 times for false alarms.. haha.
  • The title of this cracked me up. Sorry about the false labor, sucks.

  • That happened to me last night as well. 4-6 minutes apart.
  • Haha, glad to know I'm not the only one! Thankfully we live very close to the hospital, I just hate sounding the alarms and getting our sitter called and everything only to come home 2 hues later.
  • I hate the term false labor, it makes it seem so invalid or not helpful in some form. At least it's some type of progress, even if it can't be measured in the form of dilation or effacement.
  • Oh boy, same thing happened to me yesterday, minus the trip to L&D, but I did call them! Hubby and I DTD around 11am (DS was spending the day with grandparents so we figure we had a great opportunity when I was not too tired, hahaha) and I started having contractions 4 mins apart, steady for hours, but not painful, so I ignored them.

Then by about 8pm they had shifted to closer to 3 mins apart and lasting a good minute each and a few were so painful that I had to stop talking during the height of it. I let that go on for about 2 hours, took a walk, laid on my side, drank water, all the tricks to make them stop, nothing worked! Finally called L&D at 10pm and they basically sd it was up to me if wanted to come in...since DS was in bed, I decided to wait a little while longer and by midnight they had finally stopped.

I told Hubby at least we know it is a good kickstarter if needed in the next few weeks! haha!

  • In my last pregnancy I went into labor about 30 min after I had sex. We went to labor and delivery. When they checked me I was 3cm dilated. They admitted me at 10:30pm and I had my daughter at 6:30am. It was quite an adventure.
