Anatomy ultrasound

I had my ultrasound today and they were unable to tell the gender. The tech said she was 75% sure girl but couldn't be 100%. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Yep. At my anatomy scan baby wouldn't show the goods at all. I was too impatient to wait until third tri so I paid for an elective ultrasound. The tech said she thought it was a girl but wasn't really certain so they had me come back a week later when they confirmed.

Very typical. Did the get the important measurements and shots? If not, you may get a second chance to peek. The anatomy scan is a bonus if you can get a sex shot. The real reason behind AS is for vital organ and body measurements.

    I'm just about 18 weeks

I have a slight placenta previa so they have to do another scan at 28 weeks to see if it has corrected itself. I'm sure by then they'll be able to tell.

I have been thinking of doing a 3d ultrasound to find out a little earlier.

I hope everything looks good at 28 weeks. That will be a perfect time for 3D. Ask the tech if they can squeeze in a 3D. Some places have both

I went to a private 3D/4D ultrasound at 14 weeks for a gender scan. It only cost like $65. Was probably the most fun thing I did for the pregnancy. Was so cool to see him moving around in there. AND because they have such great machines they can easily see gender really early on. You should look for a local Ultrasound place for sure!

My son is now 2 years old, we are working on #2 so I'm back on the boards.

I was 14 weeks when we did his gender scan here in Columbus OH.
The tech put the wand on my belly and immediately said "text book boy!". We could see EVERYTHING. Plus I have to say, it was one of the first times I really bonded with him. They have you drink a cold fruity smoothie before coming so the baby gets excited and active. I could SEE him kicking and turning in there. So cool. We could see him making drinking motions with his mouth because he could taste the smoothie they said. I just remember thinking "There you are. You're mine and I'm your mommie. You're really real." Very cool. And very worth it. :)

And yes, it was correct. Boy. It was a bit funny. I went to my anatomy scan at about 20 weeks and my OB struggled to figure out boy/girl. But we had seen his "thing" loud and clear on the other ultrasound. Their machines are just better.
Plus the place we went had a come-back policy. If they couldn't give you a 100% guarantee on gender, then they let you come back until they are sure.

We went back for a face scan when I was 31 weeks too. It was cool because the 3D pictures did look like him (once he was born we could see the resemblance). But it wasn't as fun because they can't move around as much at 31 weeks. Plus that one cost like $125 maybe.

Thanks for the information everyone. I didn't think I'd want to do a 3D ultrasound but I am positive now that I really want to experience it!

I thought the 3D ultra sound was creepy. Due to medical issues with our baby we had to go in every 4 weeks for scans. The techs were always so excited to print off the 3D pics but I always thought they looked alien like.
Yeah, sorry. I should say the gender scan was mostly done in the monochrome. The 3D with flesh tones can be creepier. The 14 weeks gender scan was mostly cool because he was small enough that we got to watch him move so much, but we did call one of the resulting pics "skelator"...lol. Its the live part thats fun.

The 31 weeks 3D scan was weird... We invited the family (because they have a big viewing area for grandparents and stuff) but when you are that prego you end up having to move around on the table funny to get the face to show on a scan. Awkward.
