Nbr: who would you call?

For mobile: "nbr: who would you call?"

As weird as this sounds, I think there is a family if birds in the wall/siding behind my fireplace. It doesn't sound like it's inside the house itself or in the main walls, but behind the fireplace (where you actually build the fire) since I keep hearing weird sounds from the back wall there. Who would you call to check it out? An exterminator? Do they handle birds? I really think it's birds due to the incessant chirping. Since there are trees outside the house behind where the fireplace is I can't really see if there is anything there. The big belly also doesn't help. Any suggestions? My cats are freaking out at the fireplace, lol.

Maybe the police dept? I know in some places they handle animal control as well

I would think animal control. I don't know if an exterminator would cover this and if they do you might just end up with a family of dead birds in your fireplace. I would try animal control first and if they can't help maybe they can at least point you in the right direction.

Is your chimney or fireplace bricked in? Maybe some bricks fell loose and they decided it was a good nesting place? If it's in the actual chimney, I would call a chimney sweep.

Pest/animal control? Hmm, I'll look into our township website and see if the police handle that or if they have a separate pest/animal control department. Thanks!!!

Dh and I were so confused as we never had to deal with birds or critters while renting. Oh the fun of homeownership, lol!

I'm pretty sure it's bricked in, but there's siding on the outside of the entire house, including the chimney stack. It's not in the actual chimney, but seems to be the space between the chimney and wall. It's so weird.
