How are you all doing? Only a couple days until it's officially our month. Is everybody pretty much ready to go or are you still tying up loose ends? Please tell me I'm not the only one who still hasn't installed the carseat or packed a hospital bag!

Re: August Mamas-to-Be

  • I'm ready to go anytime after next Friday, when I hit 37 weeks.  Obviously I'm fine with going the distance, but I know he'll be healthy so long as I make it that far.

I still need to pack my hospital bag and DH needs to put the car seat bases back in our cars, but I'm not worried about that (car seat), since he's put them in and taken them out enough times with DD, that he can do that the day we take DS home.

I really do need to pack my bag this weekend, although I guess I'm so optimistic I won't be needing it for another 3 weeks (DS came at 39w3d), that I haven't felt that motivated.

Other than that, just need to wash some of DS' clothes and arrange the furniture in his nursery, and I think we're all set!  I definitely can't wait until next Thursday when we're finally in the month of August!

  • Since we were originally told we were going to have a c-section at 37 weeks, we're pretty much ready to go now.  Car seat is installed, hospital bag is mostly packed, nursery is ready, etc.  But, since that got changed last week, I've been lazy the last week. :-)  The things left on my to do list aren't necessary, but I'd still like to get them done soon to make our lives a little easier when she comes.
Either way, I'm happy we're almost to August!  DH and I are so excited to finally meet our little girl!

  • So glad that I am not the only one with things left to do.  Our carseat base is sitting on our dining room table.  I guess I could have DH install that this weekend.  Honestly, my thoughts are if we go into labor early, I know that someone would either install the base for us or we could just seat belt the carseat in the vehicle.  No biggie.

I haven't packed a hospital bag either.  My mom and sister say that I have dropped and they both think I will go early.  I seriously doubt that...so I just haven't been motivated.  I did purchase travel sized toiletries at the store this week.  I plan to purchase new pajamas for the hospital next Monday after my OB appointment.  I just I am just not worried about packing?!  Very strange for this Type A personality girl!  I know that Walmart is a block away from the hospital and if I needed something then someone would go purchase it for me!

Very excited that we will have OUTSIDE babies NEXT MONTH!

  • I'm so glad you posted this. Our carseat is good to go. The nursery has a few things that need to be done. I have a mental block when it comes to the hospital bag. I'm a type A personality too and can't pack the bag. I worry that I will jinx myself guess that sounds silly but it's how I feel. I can't believe one week until August is here. Congratulations ladies we are so close!

  • I told DH last night that I wanted all the big stuff done by the end of next weekend and the other little things like setting up the PNP, swing, etc, done by the following week. I'm such a procrastinator but I really don't want to be 39 weeks and trying to install a carseat into my SUV with my big honkin belly. I guess that would be a good distraction during early labor. ;)

Yeah, I wouldn't try to install it yourself.  I was helping DH, and when you have to tighten the straps (and ours is a simple one strap pull with the LATCH), I felt like pulling hard enough to make it tight would have tweaked my ab muscles, so I stopped and DH did all that.  Maybe just watch YH install it if you need a distraction. :-)

Good point. I'll tell him I can only watch and critique his every step. I'm pretty good at that.  >:)

  • Car seat base is installed, nursery is all set up as is her section of our master bedroom. I haven't packed the hospital bag yet as most of the stuff I'm packing I use on a daily basis. I'll pack it the night before my c-section or have DH come home and pack it since he'd have to come home to take the pets to the kennel anyway. 19 days till my c-section.

  • I was just thinking tonight that we should get bottles sanitized and the car seat installed soon. We aren't due until the end of August so we still have a little time, but I would feel good if we got those done in the next week or two.

  • I've been convinced from the very beginning that our LO would be early so we've had everything ready for a while now. We installed the carseat about a week or two ago. I'm glad we did because we certainly noticed a few things we'll have to learn to work around with having a car seat and stroller in our car now. We keep the hospital bag and diaper bag in our dining room so we'll be able to grab it when needed. My mom arrived a week ago to help us with any last minute stuff so now we're on the waiting game! Getting extremely impatient too!
