Maternity leave ?

Hi All,

When you were out of the office for maternity leave, did you specify that you were on maternity leave in your out-of-office email?  Or did you just say your were out of the office?  Sorry this is a random question, but I was having this discussion with someone today.

Thanks!

  • If you don't specifically say that you're out on maternity leave because perhaps you don't want people to know, I think you need to specify that you're going to be out for a few months...more than just a vacation.

But, if I were going back to work, I would say that I was out on maternity leave.

  • Yes I specified on was on maternity leave and gave an estimated date of return.  I also gave a name and phone number of the person to be contacted if they had any questions while I was out of the office.

  • Yes, I plan to do an out of office ASAP once I'm out.  I think at my company they disable your email until you come back - so even if I wanted to login I couldn't login to check email.  So I think it's important to let people know you won't be back for months...
  • I did not specify that I was on leave. I just indicated the date I would be back and the people to contact while I was gone.
