Carter's refund...

Did you return because your child got a rash from the label or because you were not satisfied with the clothes once you heard that?

Re: Carter's refund...

  • DD never had a reaction but I'm planning on returning anyway.  Part of the reason is that, after finding out what happened, I wouldn't want to use the clothes for another baby.  The clothes that I saved were saved with the idea of using them again.  Since I can't do that, I'm not satisfied with the quality.

  • I have been wondering about this. My girls were born in late summer 07 and we have tons- I counted over 100 pieces with the 'bad' tag. I won't have more children and was planning on yard sale-ing the clothes.. but now I wonder if I shouldn't just send them back?  I don't want to take advantage of something bc we aren't going to use them again, but I don't want someone else's kid to get rashy... argh.

  • Here's my logic.  Generally you could give someone else baby clothes.  I have a friend who is pregnant and I would LOVE to give her some of Hailey's old things.  The problem is that I would feel HORRIBLY if her baby had a reaction.  Because of that, I'm not satisfied.  I should be able to pass the clothes along to someone else without the fear that they will have a bad reaction to them.

  • Good point, Erika6504.  I feel the same way.  The only reason I'm hesitant to send our items back (and yes, we have a ton as well) is because of the sentimental value.  I know the outfit DD wore to come home from the hospital is a "bad tag" item, but I would never ever get rid of it because it makes me think of her homecoming.  So many of her clothes have special memories... call me a sap, but I don't know if I can part with them.  But that extra $$ sure would be nice!
  • I love Carters clothes, that is not the reason I returned them.  I had saved a bunch of things from DS and had gotten some other stuff for DD.  DD has horribly sensitive skin and I just didnt want to take the chance with her.  I sent it all back to them and plan on putting the money that received in both of their bank accounts
  • OMG!! Okay, I'm trying to figure out what this whole "returning Carter's clothing" thing is all about. IF it's about the silkscreened non-tags causing a rash, then that's exactly what happened to my DD!! She used to scratch and scratch until she actually had a few tiny spots of blood once. After that, I stopped buying Carter's clothes. Can anyone shed some light for us who need more info??? TIA!
  • Hawaii - yes, it is about the tagless tags.  Some kids with really sensitive skin have received something similar to a chemical burn from the tags.  Even though they pass all of the quality checks, Carter's is accepting returns of items.

I don't know all of the details.  You need to call Carter's and they will send you a bag to put the clothes in and send them back.  I think it takes a few weeks, but they will then send you a check for whatever you've sent in.

    Their number is (888) 282-4674

  • Awesome! Thanks, Erika!
  • I just received my refund over the weekend for a bunch of clothes and sleepers that gave my son a bad reaction.  In addition, when we made the initial call to Carters to get the information on sending back the articles of clothing that we felt were causing the reaction, they mailed us an envelope to mail the pieces to them as well as a teddy bear as an apology.  It was completely unexpected and I believe that Carters has treated the situation very seriously and I can only express my gratitude to them for handling the situation approriately.
  • Any idea how they are computing the refund on what is being sent back to them?  DD had mild reactions and I would like to get rid of them but don't want to spend a bunch of time sending them back if it is a small amount I get back.
  • Cool, I just called and they're sending my bag, too. Thanks, ladies!

**happy** They said they will refund the total MSRP price!

  • I just called and was also told that they would refund the MSRP for all items.
